For some reason, we thought redesigning the bathroom would be the easy part and didn't anticipate it being much of a problem, so we remodeled the rest of our home first.

When we finally got to the bathroom, we were surprised by how much was really involved. We also knew how quickly a bathroom remodeling project can quickly spiral out of control.

Small bathroom remodeling did not look like it would be difficult at first. The problem was, we didn't really anticipate how little space we had to work with.

Our house is not very big, but it is very intelligently designed. The layout is excellent, and unnecessary use of space is minimized.

Because of this factor, the bathroom is very small and stuck in a corner. There is just enough room for the toilet, the shower, and the sink. Unfortunately, it is all pretty old and falling apart.

When we started the small bathroom remodeling job, we wanted to do more than just replace the old fixtures with new ones.

We hadn't planned in our budget to bring in any professionals to help with our small bathroom remodeling, because we felt comfortable doing basic plumbing and pipe installation

We wanted more room for the shower, an extra bathroom cabinet, and a magazine rack beside the toilet. The problem is that we just did not have this option with small bathroom remodeling.

But we finally realized that if we could maximize space, we could have the dream bath we wanted.

So we replaced the bath tub with a large shower and installed a pedestal sink .We put the toilet in an alcove with a shelf above it that can be used for our magazine rack. For cabinet space, we added a wall-mounted recessed cabinet along with a large mirrored medicine cabinet set into the wall.

Finally, we were able to fit in everything that we wanted along with a few extras that added a little elegance. Still, it was no easy task. Compared to the rest of the house, as a matter of fact, it was pretty tough.

Just remember, if you decide to tackle a small bathroom remodeling job, choose your design first and be creative. With the right idea, design and planning, you can create a bathroom makeover that you and your family will enjoy for a long time.
