Bathroom Tile Design
The Right Bathroom Tile Design can Improve the Decor of Your Entire Home
If you are considering a bath remodeling project in the near future, keep your bathroom decor ideas open to ALL possibilities, not just the standard. Decor comes in many shapes, colors and sizes which is why this idea section for bathroom tile design is so essential for your home to look its best.
Why am I stressing this? Because ....
Bathroom tile design is something that few people think about. As a matter of fact, few people think about bathroom decor very much to begin with. You see, there are some common ideas about bathroom decorating that almost everyone holds.
What does your fantasy bath look like?
Most people believe that a bathroom should be subdued, relaxed, and sort of nondescript. Some people like warmer colors while others like cooler, but it seems like there are a few people who give this useful room the attention that it deserves.
I have always taken a different approach. The bathroom is one of the most important rooms in your house – you use it every day, several times a day. As such, you should put as much thought in to bathroom remodeling and decoration as you would into decorating your living room – maybe more.
Take a quick look at your floors
Many people don't use their living rooms every day. One of the best places to start thinking about decoration is with bathroom tile design. You see, tiles give you an easy, straightforward way to change the appearance of your restroom.
Decor styles for a change of pace
Just a few months ago, I used some warm, Mediterranean colors to redecorate my bathroom tiles and was surprised at what a drastic difference it made. Everything seemed so upbeat, friendly, and inviting. And this wasn't even approaching the extent that some people go to when they design bathroom tiles.
Throw out the 1950s - Unless you love this style with no color
When most people think about patterned bathroom tile design, they probably picture the black-and-white checkered pattern that you see in so many institutional settings. In reality, you can do pretty much anything with bathroom tiles.
The neat thing about tiles is that so many of them are made in interchangeable sizes and shapes. This means that, if you don't find any off the shelf bathroom tile designs that you like, you can always come up with your own. You can combine multiple tiles until you get just the perfect layout. Then you can take it home and install it yourself or hire someone to do it for you.
Maybe you're not selling your house but ...
Although all this may still might seem very simple, the effects it can have are profound. I had a friend who had a well-decorated house with a very boring bathroom. He was trying to sell it, and not having much luck. After several months, he did some minor remodeling including redoing the bathroom tile design.
Just by making his bathroom look better, he sold the house successfully in the next three or four weeks – And for more than he had been asking for originally. Not bad, huh?
So, now you know many of the benefits of gearing up your bathroom tile design and you have some exciting remodeling ideas to ponder for your bath. Let's do something - get yourself down to the local home improvement store or surf online for more hints to get you started. You could have a dream bathroom by this weekend!
Handicap Bathtubs
Learn How Handicap Bathtubs Help Bed-Ridden Patients
There are now handicap bathtubs for bed-ridden disabled persons - but how can they help patients? What are they? These are bathtubs which can be brought to the person's bed so they can bathe comfortably without having to get up and walk or sit up for any period of time. It's an easy inflatable tub to help someone who cannot be moved.
When time for a bath, the disabled individual is moved to one side of the bed and then the non-inflated tub is rolled out flat onto the bed, and the patient is rolled onto it. Then a hand pump is used to inflate the handicap bathtub around the person, right there on the bed!
A Quick Review
The walk in tub comes with a hose that can reach to the nearest faucet so the tub can be filled with water without making a mess. It is 13 1/2 inches high and can accommodate persons up to 6 feet 2 inches tall. The drain hose can be run to any tub, sink or toilet. A vacuum is included to empty the tub for draining. This means the water through the hose can be left on during the entire bath time and can be constantly draining for replacement with clean water.
Great Alternative
This is a great alternative to sponge bathing, which doesn't usually clean thoroughly. It also gives the bed-ridden individual a chance to relax in an actual warm bath, which can soothe muscle tension and help ease arthritis, bed sores and skin rashes.
Inflatable Tubs for the Handicapped
While there are many handicap tubs on the market, most are installed just like a regular tub, but have features to accommodate persons that are unable to stoop, bend or stand for long periods of time. The inflatable handicap bathtubs, however, provide an easy way for caretakers to bathe bed-ridden patients without having to move them from one room to the next. It is a patented product that gives bed-ridden patients the option to be bathed the normal way.
Premier Walk In Bathtubs
Hiring an Installer for Premier Walk In Bathtubs
If you have grown tired of your old clawfoot then you might be looking more at a safety tub for the new bathroom remodel. But, what about installation? Many licensed plumbers and carpenters can install premier walk in bathtubs. If you're an experienced carpenter and know a little about plumbing, you can probably install your own tub. But if you don't have the experience needed to do the job, it's probably wise to hire a professional installer. Here are some tips to find the right installer for your needs.
But first, let's take a quick video tour to see one of the walk in bath tubs and features (not that we promote any particular brand) ..
1. License and Experience
Before hiring an installer, make sure he is licensed and has experience with tub installation. Experience goes a long way in carpentry work. Licensing means the contractor has learned the latest code standards and installation techniques for the type of work involved, so you're less likely to have to worry about shady practices or the contractor "cutting corners" to make it work!
2. Which Contractor to Hire?
As mentioned before, licensed contractors that specialize in carpentry work can often do the installation of premier walk in bathtubs, tile repair or painting (if necessary), and even the plumbing work involved. Some plumbers can complete every step of the installation, but not all. When speaking with a plumbing company, ask if the plumber will actually do all the work or if the carpentry work will be hired out to a separate contractor. If the plumbing company plans to subcontract the work, this could cost you more than hiring someone directly.
3. Get Credentials
Ask the contractor for references of previous premier tub installations. Check with Better Business Bureau to make sure there are no complaints or that any complaints have been resolved appropriately to keep customers happy. Call the references personally to verify their experiences with the contractor. Ask about trustworthiness, job completion timeframes and quality of work.
4. What to Discuss
Before hiring a contractor, be sure to discuss every aspect of the work. Get a price quote in writing and ask if the price is set or if it's only an estimate. Ask about the timeframe for completion as well as how many workers to expect. Make sure your schedule fits with the contractor's schedule. Then, ask about guarantees for the work. Will the contractor charge for returning if you have problems later on?
5. Before Ordering Premier Walk In Bathtubs
Before you order a tub, speak with a few contractors at your home. Allow them to get measurements and discuss the type of premier tub that will work best in the area where it will be installed. Discuss features and the pricing for each type of tub.
A premier walk in bathtub can be a great investment if installed properly. Don't be too hasty when hiring someone. Take time to complete all steps above before signing an agreement.
Senior Bathtubs
Senior Bathtubs for Comfort and Health
Shopping for senior bathtubs can be a little daunting because there are so many types of tubs to choose from. There are walk in bathtubs, tubs with a whirlpool spa, tub/shower combos for seniors, tubs with seats that can be raised or lowered, and more. The choices seem endless, but no matter which senior tub you choose, most are great for comfort, health and safety. Check out these major health benefits so you will know the value of having a great tub now if you're already a senior or later on in life.
Therapeutic Benefits
Hydrotherapy is known to help with a number of ailments as well as soothe pain and relieve stress. A senior bathtub with a whirlpool spa provides massage therapy in the water, thus increasing circulation in the body (particularly the legs). It also helps relieve pressure on muscles and joints by reducing the body's weight while submerged under the water.
Benefits for Sufferers of Arthritis
Many elderly people suffer with arthritis, whether from injuries they've incurred over the years or simply a lack of exercise and activity. Arthritis makes it very difficult to get into and out of a regular bathtub. Senior bathtubs are built with this in mind, making it easy to enter and exit the tub by simply walking in. One small step through a watertight door can make the difference between being able to take a bath, or not.
Many seniors find that soaking in a warm bath offers at least short-term relief for arthritis. Being under the water gives them more mobility so they can exercise a little under the water as well.
Help for Type 2 Diabetes
Those with Type 2 diabetes may benefit by getting a senior walk in tub. A study published in the New England Journal of Medicine showed that soaking in a hot tub daily can be beneficial for Type 2 sufferers because it reduces blood sugar levels for some, improves sleep and causes an overall feeling of well being. Stress reduction through bathtub therapy along with exercise and changes in one's diet can greatly improve the condition and even cause it to disappear for some!
A Good Night's Sleep
Being able to bathe at night also helps seniors get better sleep at night once the muscles are relaxed. Senior bathtubs are designed for ease of use, so the bather will not be limited to only taking a bath while someone else is available to help. The safety features give seniors more freedom, and they'll be able to bathe right before bedtime. And better sleep usually means better overall health.
Give these benefits some thought if you're in the market for one of the latest senior bathtubs. If you have a loved one that is unable to bathe due to health issues, then suggest a senior tub for them as their next home project.
Premier Walk In Bathtub
5 Benefits of Installing a Premier Walk In Bathtub
If you're considering installing a premier walk in bathtub, then get ready to enjoy numerous benefits. These tubs are becoming more and more popular as word gets around because of the features that can aid seniors or anyone who's disabled. Walk in tubs enable folks that have a difficult time getting in and out of a bathtub to easily take a soothing shower or bath with less risk of falling. Here are five benefits of installing a premier walk in tub.
1. Low Entry Level
Many premier walk in bathtubs have a very low entry level, with some as low as 1 inch making it perfect for seniors or handicapped people. This gives the bather the ability to merely step into and out of the tub instead of having to lift their leg to try and climb over the tub's side. It's similar to a walk in shower, but with a tub included and all its features as well.
2. Comfort Features
Most walk in tubs offer comfort features to help those with pain in the back, neck, legs, and other areas. The tub may feature a comfortable, slip resistant seat so the bather can shower or bathe while sitting. The seat will raise or lower to the desired height. Other comfort features include water jets for soothing massage, fast filling taps, fast drainage, removable door and more.
Not sure what the tub looks like or the features it offers? Here is a quick video to help you visualize what your purchase of a Premier, or other type of walk in bathtub will look like. ...
3. High Quality
High quality is a common feature with these tubs. A premier walk in bathtub will likely be made to last for 20 years or more, without worry of stains, cracks, etc. These are built to be sturdy and long lasting, and often come with a great guarantee and warranty.
4. Health Benefits
Besides the physical benefits of owning a walk in tub, the bather can enjoy numerous health benefits. Being able to soak in a bath (something many elderly can't do without a special tub) provides stress relief, relieves hemorrhoids, soothes nerves, reduces arthritic and muscular pain, relieves some bladder and urinary problems, reduces cramps, helps with varicose veins and more. Baths are recommended for therapeutic needs and rehabilitation by many sports organizations, medical professionals, trainers and therapists.
5. Value Added to Your Home
Not only will you enjoy all the benefits above, but installing a high quality premier walk in bathtub can increase value for your home. Any time you add a new structural or functional feature, or remodel a bathroom in your home, your home's appraised value can go up by $5000 or more. So replacing an older tub with an innovative walk in tub might enable you to ask more for your home if you need to sell some day.

Premier Bathtubs
A Safe Bath Alternative for Seniors - Premier Bathtubs
Thanks to premier bathtubs, gone are the days when seniors have to avoid taking a soothing warm bath. Mobility limitations and health issues both can become serious issues as someone grows older. Many physical therapists and doctors recommend soaking in a warm bath to relax muscles and relieve some types of pain. But for some, getting in and out of a tub seems to be an impossible task!
Seniors and Bath Safety
Seniors who have a difficult time moving about or getting up and down often dread the thought of taking a shower or bath. They fear falling or not being able to get in and out of the tub. That's why premier bathtubs for seniors were developed. These are bathtubs and showers that cater to seniors' needs. They greatly reduce the danger of falling while providing a comfortable place for seniors to bathe.
Premier Tub Features and BenefitsThe amazing features of premier bathtubs are geared to make showering and bathing much easier for seniors. Many of these tubs are made with an easy access door, so one can simply "walk in" instead of step into the tub.
The door seals tightly when shut so there are no leaks into the floor. The seat may feature a comfortable backrest, and the entire seat can be lowered or raised mechanically as a useful safety feature. Instead of a senior trying to get up and down in a tub, the seat raises and lowers the person in and out of the water with ease. One can also remain seated while showering.
Some tubs feature hydrotherapy jets (similar to those in a Jacuzzi) with therapeutic capabilities for those with muscular or bone aches and pains. Other features include precise water temperature control, extra wide and/or extra low entrances, slip resistance for the seat, backrest and flooring, and door opening for a right- or left-handed bather.
Health and SafetyPremier tubs for seniors are perfect for anyone with health issues such as arthritis, muscular aches, a loss of strength, poor balance, weak or damaged knees, back pain, neck pain, etc. Those with these or similar health needs often find a bath to be soothing and helpful. Custom bathtubs eliminate the worry of falling and give peace of mind during bath time. And with some illnesses and injuries, frequent baths are crucial to the recovery process.
Custom designed premier bathtubs make taking a bath easier than ever while including numerous safety features to protect you or your loved one. Consider giving a premier tub as a gift for Christmas, Mother's/Father's Day, or a birthday. Your senior loved one will be thrilled that they can now take a bath without worry!
Premier Bathtub Installation
5 Installation Tips for Premier Walk in Bathtubs
Premier walk in bathtubs have become quite popular in recent years. They cater to folks that either have a difficult time getting in and out of a regular tub due to age or to those with a physical disability.
Walk in tubs have a door that opens to allow you to walk straight into the tub instead of having to step over and into the tub. These tubs can make it easier for you to continue taking soothing baths as you always have in the past. For handy people, this makes for a great weekend DIY project. If installing a premier walk in bathtub yourself, here are five installation tips to get you started.
1. Take Accurate Measurements
Before ordering a walk in bathtub, be sure to measure the space where you plan to install the tub. An old carpenter's saying is to "cut once and measure twice.". This is good advice to follow. Measure the length and width of the old tub (if replacing an old one) and be sure to allow extra room for installation. Tubs and showers are shaped differently and can be various heights, lengths and widths, so the new walk in tub may or may not fit perfectly where the old one sat.
2. Assess the Plumbing and Fixture Needs
If replacing an older tub, assess the type of plumbing and where it's located within the wall and/or floor. You might need to move the plumbing to a different location when installing the new tub or at least update old piping to newer plumbing.
3. Remove the Old Tub
Once your new premier walk in bathtub arrives, you can start taking out the old tub. You'll need a few tools including a screwdriver, razor knife, drywall saw, large adjustable wrench or channel locks, and a crow bar. Be sure to turn all water off before removing the old tub. Unhook all plumbing from the old tub, and use the razor to break the caulk seal around the tub for removal.
If there's tile on the wall around the tub, you'll need to remove the tiles that are just above the tub to avoid damaging them. Use the crow bar to pry the tub from the wall, but place something between it and the wall to cushion the wall from damage. Once the tub has been freed from the wall, you can pull it straight out and remove from your bathroom.
4. Install the New Walk In Tub
Once the old bathtub is out, it's time to install the new tub. Slide it into place and attach all the pipes and fixtures. Keep testing along the way with running water to ensure there are no leaks. Test the water flow and pressure, hot/cold valves, stopper or plug, shower valves, etc. before securing the tub with sealant.
5. Finalizing Your Installation
Repair any wall damage (drywall or tile), repaint if necessary, and then seal with caulk. Allow to dry completely before bathing. Once your new walk in tub has been installed, test everything once more to make sure the water flows properly with the appropriate hot/cold uses.
These are just five basic tips so you can install your own tub and save money. If more work is involved with your installation that you can't handle on your own, you can always contact a licensed contractor or plumber to do the job. Think of your premier walk in bathtub as an investment in your home and your health!

American Standard Faucets
I Work for American Standard Faucets
A Bathroom Tub or Sink is Useless without the Spigot - A Job
We all know that a sink or tub is useless without the spigot. Here is a quick story about working for American Standard faucets you will enjoy if you are a do it yourself bathroom remodeling hobbyist.when I first got a job working for American Standard faucets, I never thought it would be interesting.
Plumbing is in my blood, and I had always assumed that it was the career I would go into. Nevertheless, I did not get into it because of passion. It simply seemed like an easy way to make a living.
My dad was a plumber, and I learned a little bit about his trade growing up. The American Standard faucet company just seemed like a way to make an honest buck off of what I already knew.
Nonetheless, I have actually enjoyed working with American Standard bathroom faucets. You see, I have been around American Standard faucets for a long time. Before I worked for the company itself, I worked as a plumber. Before that, I worked at a hardware store.
One way or another, plumbing has been my life for as long as I can remember. Still, I had never had the opportunity to see how the faucets were designed and manufactured. American Standard shower faucets are better than most of the competing companies. It was interesting to find out why.
Besides being intellectually stimulating, the job is also sort of pleasing in other ways. First of all, the pay is pretty good. I wouldn't say it's great, but I do make more money at American Standard faucets than I made at the hardware store. The work is more regular than plumbing work.
Spigot Discounts
Best of all, I get a discount for working there. Needless to say, when I work as a plumber, I install American Standard faucets on all of my contract jobs. I used them a lot before, but now I use them almost exclusively. If you can save just a little bit on every plumbing fixture, it can translate into hundreds of dollars by the time the job is done. Since I started my American Standard faucets job, it is definitely easier to make money on the side doing contract work.
I don't think I will keep working for American Standard faucets forever. I have been a plumber, like I said, since I was very young, but even I can only look at faucets so often. Sometimes I almost feel like I'm going to go crazy in the American Standard faucets warehouse. There are rows upon rows of plumbing fixtures piled from wall to wall as high as the eye can see.
On most days I don't think about it, but sometimes it stresses me out. I think I need a change of scenery pretty soon! Maybe I'll go back to work as a plumber.
Your Bathroom
Has Your Bathroom Been On Your Mind A Lot Lately?
Let's Talk About Your Bathroom Design

Add More Space To Your Small Bath
Years ago many bathrooms were built with barely enough room to turn around. But that's not what today's busy people want now. Think sanctuary. Eventhough your bathroom is cozy, you would still like it to be a little larger. Larger bathrooms are very popular now. If you can afford it, and if there's room for it, why not expand a few feet.
Colors Make A Difference In Your Bathroom
Did you know you can make your bath look and feel larger without adding extra space just by using some special decorating tricks such as soft color schemes. One trick is to place bright towels and accessories in your bathroom with background colors of pastels and whites.
Brighten Up Your Bathroom
Maybe you've got just a small window too. Why not enlarge the window along with the oom, and add more lighting, and more variety in the lighting.
Enjoy Your Bath
If you're settling in for a bath (in your new sunken tub, or maybe a walk in bathtub for instance) you might want dim, relaxing light or a skylight. But if you're shaving, well you know you need something brighter such as recessed lighting installed into the ceiling. It's your room, so go ahead and enlarge your options along with the size of the room.
Take A Look At Your Bathroom Furniture
Do you have hanging racks or wall shelves that stick out? Did you know these can make your room appear smaller? So, maybe you should take them down. Are your cabinets worth keeping? If they are, simply refinishing them in a lighter color will give them new life. And if you top them with custom-cut marble, you're going to smile every time you walk into the room. So will your guests.
Space
Placing mirrors is also another way to make your bathroom look bigger without having to add extra space.
Another thing you can do to transform your bathroom is install radiant heat, the kind that radiates up from the floor. It'll cost you to install, certainly, but once you've gotten past that initial hurdle, it's very efficient and will save you money. Imagine being able to walk around barefoot on your warm bathroom floor. And, if the floor's warm, that means the rest of the room is too. You may even want to consider installing a bathroom towel warmer. These are great in a small bathroom and very easy to install yourself.
Are You Feeled With Excitement About Your New Bathroom?
Doesn't this make you want to get started on your bathroom remodel right away? Before your begin though, do some window shopping at home improvement store displays. Whichever step you decide to take, just have fun.

Tub and Shower Faucet
.. Saved Me Money and Gave Me More Water Pressure from My Shower Head
An Emergency with the Tub and Shower Faucet .. I don't care for bathroom emergencies, do you? Of course not but a failure of my tub and shower faucet turned out to be a blessing in disguise! Heard about those water saver low pressure shower heads? Well, I didn't like the sound of it either until I had a mishap with my tub and shower faucet. I learned a valuable ( and money saving ) lesson that day. Here's my bathroom story and I'm sticking to it!
My Tub and Shower Faucet Story
The other day I had to replace my tub and shower faucet. It was one of those strange equipment failures that only happens when least convenient. I was taking a shower, washing up as quickly as possible so that I could get ready for a dinner party in an hour. I had a huge amount of work to do, but if nothing went wrong I would be ready just in time. Then disaster struck. The shower and tub faucet broke. It was spring water all over the bathroom!
Here's What Happened
The valve that was supposed to cut off the water in emergencies didn't work. The bathroom was on the verge of flooding! I went downstairs and turned off the main valve, and that did the trick. The problem was that the tub and shower faucet wasn't the only thing that that valve turned off. Half of the house was on that same shutoff valve. I needed to do something, and quick!
Not Quite Do It Yourself
I sent out my daughter to look at tub and shower faucets. I figured that if she could find wall mounted faucet replacement parts in time, everything would be all right. If I could fix the tub and shower faucet, I could turn the water back on. Then I wouldn't have to have the embarrassment of requiring my guests to go upstairs to use the bathroom. They would be able to use the one downstairs.
My Introduction to New Bath Technology
In the end, everything turned out all right. You see, the tub and shower faucet that I had in the bathroom had been there for years. I thought it was all right. It was what I was used to, after all. What I didn't know is that the tub and shower faucet was outdated. There were much more advanced faucets nowadays. There were water savers shower faucets out there, for example, that did not drip.
The Shower and Tub Faucet "Blessing"
Although I had never wanted to buy a water saver tub and shower faucet, that is exactly the one my daughter picked out. As it turns out, it has smaller holes in it. This means that it gives you a stronger spray than a conventional tub and shower faucet, while saving water at the same time.
Since that day, my water bill has gone down tremendously and I have been enjoying my showers a whole lot more. We got the tub and shower faucet installed in time, and the party went off without a hitch. It is nice when a disaster is successfully averted. And, it's especially welcome when a new bathtub spigot saves me money! If your old tub and shower faucet has seen it's day, head down to your local home improvement store or shop online for a new fixture. You'll be mighty happy you did!!
Soap Dispenser
Modernize Your New Bathroom With A Soap Dispenser
Are You Looking For The Ideal Bathroom Accessory?
Keeping your skin moisturized is likely something you are pretty mindful of. If skin becomes too dry it can lead to itching and flaking, which are both very uncomfortable.
For most of us, finding the right products to use in the shower is the difference between healthy skin and problem skin. Many liquid body washes contain rich emollients which are essential for good looking skin.
No More Squeeze Bottles
With a soap dispenser in the shower, you can easily use these products without having to worry about squeezing a bottle every time you need some. Finding one of these items is typically very simple. Most home improvement stores have a wide selection.
Types of Soap Dispensers
Many individuals choose a disposable soap dispenser that is made of plastic. These are available in either clear plastic or come attractively decorated. This plastic soap dispenser is also easy to clean. You can generally use the same sponge and disinfectant that you use for the rest of the shower. A disposable soap dispenser can either be refilled or thrown away when empty.
Match Your Bath Decor With Soap Dispenser
For the bathroom you can pick a design that matches some aspect of the room. If you have used a blue paint on the walls, why not buy a soap dispenser in another shade of blue? If you want to change the look of your bathroom decor often, you will love the bathroom accessory sets that includes a soap dispenser.Although you’ll find one of these handy for storing your body wash or liquid soap in, they also work well for shampoo and conditioner.
Check Out The Aviva
If you’d like to find a soap dispenser that can accommodate all the liquids you use in the shower, the Aviva soap dispenser may be just what your're looking.
Soap Dispenser For All Products
This single or multi-chamber dispenser will hold up to three liquids.Great accessory for holding your soap, shampoo and lotion. You can purchase a soap dispenser with even more compartments but that will result in a larger unit which takes up more space within the shower.
Soap Dispensers Work Great In A Shower Or Tub, But What About By The Sink?
Both the kitchen and bathroom sinks generally have soap near them. In the kitchen, this is usually both hand and dish soap. It can be something of an eyesore to have bottles of soap sitting on the counter constantly. A soap dispenser can be used instead which holds both types of soap. These can be bought in different colors and patterns so they blend right in with the already existing décor in the room.
Choose Soap Dispenser That Matches Appliances
A good example of a soap dispenser that is perfect for a kitchen is a stainless steel one. This looks great if you happen to have a stainless steel microwave or range nearby. For those who like to make a bold statement you might opt for a bright red or stark black soap dispenser.
Create A Lasting Impression With Your Soap Dispenser
In any case, soap dispensers add a modern touch to any room not to mention the convenience and money saved. Isn't it amazing how adding such small touches can make such a huge difference in looks.

This brings us to new bathroom decor. While no single mold can fit all small spaces for baths, there are some simple ways to construct and decorate your new bathroom without overspending. You can still pamper yourself a little without breaking the wallet.
Choose Your Bath Room Fixtures Carefully
Whether building a new home or adding a new bath to your current residence, you should consider not only the price of the bathroom flooring and walls, but also the quality level of each feature and fixture before buying. The toilet, sink, and tub or shower will be used on a daily basis so wear and tear can occur quickly if you buy cheap bathroom utilities.
But thankfully, buying "high quality" items doesn't mean you have to spend a fortune. Opt for mid-price ranged fixtures that are of exceptional quality, but not the cheaper ones that are likely to break and wear easily. You will spend a little more money up front, but the long-term savings will be tremendous. Look online for budget-friendly bathroom decoration ideas, and shop at garage sales or thrift shops to save on bath decor and accessories.
Bathroom Flooring is Imperative to Complete the Decor
For flooring, get good quality linoleum instead of ceramic tiles. The care of linoleum is much easier than ceramic and far less expensive as well. For the tub, get an all-in-one unit in which the tub walls are included - a tub wall that stops just below the shower head fixture. This will save on paint or wall board materials as well as help reduce mildew buildup later on. It also eliminates the need for tub caulking, which can be a nuisance in the long run.
If installing a garden tub, consider buying one with water jets instead of purchasing a separate hot tub. This allows you to enjoy similar relaxation without the extra spending on a hot tub, plumbing, and installation. Also, be sure to install a good quality exhaust fan. You can buy one for about $60 to $100, but it is well worth the price. An exhaust fan will prevent moisture and mildew buildup, resulting in tremendous savings later on.
Add Wall Paper, Paint and Wall Board to Your Bathroom Wall Decor
There are several ways to decorate bathroom walls. You can paint the walls or cover them with bathroom wall board or decorative wall paper. Painting is likely the cheapest route. Wall board, however, often lasts longer than paint if you take care of it.
Wall board reduces mildew and can easily be cleaned by wiping. Wall paper can be used to decorate an entire wall or the bottom half of a wall. If you use wall paper for only part of a wall, remember to figure in the cost of extra molding.
Adding Borders
You might even paint the entire wall and add a wall paper border to decorate the walls near the bathroom ceiling. These three options are all affordable, but the pricing will vary depending on the carpenter you choose.
Using Bathroom Accessories for Decoration
Buy a lovely (and durable) powder room vanity sink with plenty of counter space for accessories, baskets, toothbrush holders, hairspray, curling iron, hair dryer, etc. A vanity with storage underneath will be very useful for items you want to keep hidden.
Bathroom Mirrors and Lights
You can add a beautiful wall mirror above the vanity for anywhere between $45 and $200, depending on your budget. Place small decorative lights or wall sconces near the mirror for an added touch of elegance and for additional lighting. Choose lighting fixtures that can accept energy-saving bulbs to make your bathroom more energy efficient. These bulbs last much longer than regular bulbs and can save on your energy bill.
Where to Put the Essentials
In addition, a wall cabinet or freestanding bathroom shelves for storing towels and wash cloths will save space and make it easier to organize your bathroom. Now you don't have to look for towels when you step out of the bath!
The Finishing Touch to Your Bath Decor
Once your bathroom construction is complete, use these bathroom decoration ideas to create a decor that suits your own needs.
Add a couple of paintings or photography prints, small house plants, scented candles, luxury bath towels, and a few odds and ends to create the relaxing sensation you've always dreamed of. Your bath can have the appearance of luxury without excess spending if you plan carefully and shop around. Plan your work and work your plan. Draw your blueprint and get started with these bathroom decoration ideas today. Your bath is waiting!
Small Bathroom Remodeling
IF You are Bound and Determined Here are Some Ideas To Do Your Own Bathroom Remodeling and Add to Those Small Spaces
Do you have a bathroom remodeling project with some small spaces to work with coming up? Will you DIY or bring in professionals?
For Those Of You Planning Small Bathroom Remodeling
Have you noticed that today more homeowners love diy home-improvement more than ever before? My philosophy is that television plays a big part of this huge increase in home remodeling because they show that the more elaborate, extreme, and over the top the project is, the better entertainment it makes. Yet the truth of the matter is that these large projects aren't really the hard part.
Remodeling Bath With Small Spaces
If you have a lot of space to work with, a substantial amount of resources to use, and license to do anything you want, coming up with ideas for remodeling your home is easy. What is really difficult is working with smaller spaces and limited room.We found this out when we decided to tackle our small bathroom remodeling project. Eventhough we decided if we used careful planning and creative design, our small bath remodeling would be a fun job.
Working in a small room and trying to do it cheaply, while still creating the best effect for your home, can be one of the toughest things you'll ever have to do.
Don't Save Small Bathroom Remodeling For Last
For some reason, we thought redesigning the bathroom would be the easy part and didn't anticipate it being much of a problem, so we remodeled the rest of our home first.
When we finally got to the bathroom, we were surprised by how much was really involved. We also knew how quickly a bathroom remodeling project can quickly spiral out of control. Small bathroom remodeling did not look like it would be difficult at first. The problem was, we didn't really anticipate how little space we had to work with.
Our house is not very big, but it is very intelligently designed. The layout is excellent, and unnecessary use of space is minimized. Because of this factor, the bathroom is very small and stuck in a corner. There is just enough room for the toilet, the shower, and the sink. Unfortunately, it is all pretty old and falling apart.
When we started the small bathroom remodeling job, we wanted to do more than just replace the old fixtures with new ones.
We hadn't planned in our budget to bring in any professionals to help with our small bathroom remodeling, because we felt comfortable doing basic plumbing and pipe installation We wanted more room for the shower, an extra bathroom cabinet, and a magazine rack beside the toilet. The problem is that we just did not have this option with small bathroom remodeling.
Maximize Space For Small Bath Remodeling
We finally realized that if we could maximize space, we could have the dream bath we wanted.
More Ideas For Small Bathroom Remodeling
So we replaced the bath tub with a large shower and installed a pedestal sink .We put the toilet in an alcove with a shelf above it that can be used for our magazine rack. For cabinet space, we added a wall-mounted recessed cabinet along with a large mirrored medicine cabinet set into the wall.
Finally, we were able to fit in everything that we wanted along with a few extras that added a little elegance. Still, it was no easy task. Compared to the rest of the house, as a matter of fact, it was pretty tough. Just remember, if you decide to tackle a small bathroom remodeling job, choose your design first and be creative. With the right idea, design and planning, you can create a bathroom makeover that you and your family will enjoy for a long time.
Shower Doors
Bring More Light Into Your Bathroom By Putting Up Shower Doors
Will It Be A Shower Curtain Or A Shower Door?
Is it time to replace those dingy curtains in your bathroom? Why not replace them with shower doors instead? When you became a homeowner, did you realize how much time and energy owning a home required? And that there were so many small detailed projects in your new home that you would have to do?
Not only do you have the basic housekeeping tasks to keep up with, but there are always items that have to be maintained and improved. As homeowners, my spouse and I have found that as we replace items in our home, we are always looking for ways to decrease the amount of time we have to put in to maintain the new items.
Make Installing New Shower Doors Your Next DIY Project
Installing new shower doors is probably one of the most efficient methods we found for keeping the bathrooms healthy and clean.
The home that we moved into has two bathrooms. The downstairs bath has a shower stall and the upstairs bath has a tub/shower combination. When we moved in, I bought new shower curtains for both baths and decorated the bathrooms around the themes on the curtains. With the many bath accessories available, decorating was a cinch.
I was so excited about the bathrooms looking fresh and clean until we realized we had a minor problem. We found out that we had to make sure the shower curtain was pulled into place properly to avoid water getting on the floor.
To make matters worse, this was the bathroom that guests use when they stay, so everytime we had an overnight visitor, we had to show them how to position the curtain before they took a shower. We finally decided we needed to make some changes after several guests ended up mopping the floor.
Off We Go For Our New Bath Decor
So, we made a visit to our local Home Depot store to find out what options we had for our bathrooms. The sales clerk suggested that we install shower doors. My first thought was "How Much Is This Going To Cost Us?" My spouse was probably thinking "Is This A DIY Project?"
Of course this wouldn't be a simple decision because there were so many different styles to choose from. Our first option was a shower door that opened and closed like a regular door, but we knew this wouldn't work because the door would bump against the toilet.
Sliding Shower Doors
The sales clerk showed us a shower door with a track at the top that made the door slide back and forth. One model allowed both doors to slide. The other model featured one stationary door and the other door moved. The clerk stated that this model allowed for easier cleaning of the bathtub. Eventhough the clerk said the sliding doors were the most common, she said they had one drawback.
This drawback was that occasionally the track would get dirty and since it was so difficult to clean, it would wear out and eventually have to be replaced.
So, we kept on looking!!!
Oh! So Many Shower Doors To Choose From
There were also models that had mirrors on the side that faced the room. Each model came with framing that could be custom fitted for the shower opening. We found shower doors available for sale in plastic, fiber glass and glass. The fiber glass shower doors were available in clear or frosted
Frameless Glass Shower Doors
Next, we were shown a frameless glass shower door. This was our pick, especially after we were told how much it would enhance the look of our bathroom .
But, the main reason we decided on this particular style was because the door has no crevices for bacteria, dirt or soap scum to build up in so it would be much healthier and much easier to clean.
We Chose The Right Shower Door
We were pleasantly surprised at how much larger and neater the bathroom appeared without the shower curtain hanging there.
We were so pleased with the frameless glass shower door in the small bathroom that we went back to the store and purchased a sliding glass door for the shower/tub combination. Since we have our new shower doors, my time spent cleaning with my new squeegee is greatly reduced. Not to mention the worry of the mold buildup I use to have on my curtains is completely gone since I have my glass shower doors.
Shower Clock Radio
Start Your Day Listening To Quality Music Coming From The Shower Clock Radio
You just can't take it anymore!! That is your family member who loves to sing while in the bathroom. Surprise them with a shower clock radio.
Showering To The Beat Of Your Favorite Tunes
If you are one of the fortunate ones who still have all their family living at home, more than likely you have a certain family member or members who love to sing in the shower.
Whether they can sing or not, this has always and will continue to be a tradition among human beings. It's actually funny that when my husband or teenage daughter are in other rooms of the house, I never hear them singing. But, I notice once they step into the shower, they are transformed into Willie Nelson and Madonna.
What Are Those Screeching Noises?
Singing in the shower seems to be my teenager's favorite pastime,so this means that she can't take a quick shower and move on. She sings regardless if it is morning or night and doesn't seem to care if others are sleeping. Unfortunately, this is not good for the rest of the family members because the girl sounds like a dying cat. Now, how do you suppose I can put an end to this outrageous sound coming from the bathroom!
Rescued By The Shower Clock Radio
Well, I started shopping around, because I had confidence there was a solution to my problem. Ah ha, technology came through once again for me. I ran across this handy device called the shower clock radio.
You just hang this miracle device over the shower head and listen to your favorite tunes while enjoying your nice hot shower. I even found one for my daughter with a CD player included. She was so excited about getting the shower clock radio/ CD player, she didn't even question why I was giving it to her.
I just told her she could now listen to her favorite music while in the shower, but to keep the volume down. Then I jokingly said she could use it as an alternative to singing in the shower. I just hope my little scheme works!!
Will a Shower Clock Radio Solve My Other Problem?
Hopefully, I have come up with a sneaky solution for my other problem.
Your Spouse Will Love This Gift
While shopping, I also found a shower clock radio with a fog-free mirror on it.I thought since Father's Day is coming up soon, this would make a great gift for my husband. I could tell him now he could listen to all his favorite music while shaving in the shower.
Of course, I wouldn't mention to him to please stop singing in the shower. Maybe, I'll just throw in a Willie Nelson CD and hopefully he'll get the hint.
Everyone Will Enjoy Their Shower Clock Radio
So, if you are having this problem in your household, add a shower clock radio to your list for upcoming birthdays and holidays. It makes an awesome gift for anyone and are very reasonably priced in your local K-Mart stores or you can find them online.
Pedestal Bathroom
My Fond Memories of A Pedestal Bathroom
Bring Back The Past With Your New Bath Decor
Most of us have fond memories of certain items or special events when we were young. Now you don't have to just daydream about have a pedestal bathroom, your dream can come true. One of my fondest memories was visiting my grandparent’s home? They had so many interesting and different things, especially since they lived in an older house.
The one thing I loved most was the pedestal bathroom sink and tub which gave their house a regal charm. One night while I was enjoying my bath in their pedestal tub, I decided that when I grew up I would have a bathroom in my home just like my grandparents.
Well, now that I'm all grown up and have my own home, I’ve been searching for a pedestal bathtub to place in my main bath. The home I live in is relatively new so the fixtures in the bathroom are very modern and of course, they lack the charm that a pedestal bathroom sink and tub possess.
I was certain that I’d have to use decade old fixtures to get the look I wanted. This concerned me because I realized that using a pedestal bathroom sink or bathtub that had been installed and then removed from someone’s home may be cracked or worn. I was ecstatic when I found out that I could actually purchase new fixtures that resembled the antique ones my grandparents had in their home.
Definitely Not A DIY Job
My husband and I soon realized that removing old fixtures was quite a task. Do you have any idea how heavy a bathtub is? We soon made a decision that hiring a plumber would certainly be the best approach especially since they offer a guarantee when they install a pedestal bathroom tub or a sink.
The plumber we hired explained the process to us and we quickly realized that in order to accommodate the tub we wanted we’d have to install new flooring as well so we decided to have that done first. Plan Ahead For New
Bathroom Floors
After the old fixtures were removed, we chose new flooring and had a contractor install it for us. This decision was made rather quickly by both of us. Realizing that so much more of the flooring would be exposed now than previously with the traditional tub and sink, we chose a floor design that would complement the entire look of the room.
After it had a chance to completely dry, it was time to install our new bathroom fixtures. The main bathroom truly looks great with the pedestal bathroom tub and sink installed. Our overnight guests are always commenting on how wonderful our pedestal bathroom tub and sink look.
As a matter of fact, since they look so good and work just as good as the traditional fixtures that we use to have in our main bath, I am planning to change my master bath into a pedestal bathroom. Of course, without a doubt, I am hiring a plumber for this task. I just can't wait to sit back and relax in my pedestal bathroom tub filled with warm, soapy bubbles while I reminisce about my grandparent's house.
Natural Gas Water Heater
Enjoy Hot Water Whenever You Desire With Your New Natural Gas Water Heater
Consider A Natural Gas Water Heater For Long-Term Savings
Do you enjoy cuddling up in front of your natural gas fireplace during the cold, winter months? Doesn't it make you feel so warm and relaxed? Well, think about having this feeling every time you step into your shower. This can be possible by installing a natural gas water heater in your bathroom.
Switching From Electric To Natural Gas
I just moved recently from a roomy apartment with an electric water heater to a new home with natural gas heating and I am thrilled with the great job this heating system does with my water demand. With my electric water heating system, I was always stressed out because I had to schedule adequate time between washing dishes and doing laundry.
I don't know about you, but one of my biggest pet peeves is stepping into a cold shower. So, now with my natural gas water heater, I am assured of having enough hot water for my chores and shower since it provides steady heat by raising the temperature faster than the electric water heater.
Natural Gas Water Heaters For Well Owners
If you have well water you may already know that the electric unit can develop a lot of inconvenient problems with the sediment in the well. Our heating element in the electric unit had to be replaced every two or three months. This process required a lot of time and patience, not to mention a lot of know-how.
First, we had to turn off the pump to the well and the juice to the heater, and then drain the entire tank . After we finished all of this, we had to wait for the unit to fill back up and heat. We don't have to ever worry about going through all that again with our natural gas heater because it has no element.
The only drawback we found was that the natural gas water heater needed proper ventilation to work well, but this was very easy to install and we only had to do it once.
Advantages Of Natural Gas Water Heater
So, whether you're looking for a water heater for your new home or a replacement for your old one, think about the following: Water heating is typically the largest energy user in your home after heating and cooling.
Have Hot Water Anytime
Natural gas water heaters are your best alternative for a continuous supply of hot water. You can count on natural gas to deliver the hot water you need when and where you want it - even during a power outage.
I have to admit that my spouse and I were totally against a natural gas water heater at first, but now we are completely convinced, that when it comes to water heating, natural gas can't be beat for ample supply and fast recovery. Today's natural gas water heaters are more efficient than ever, so just choose wisely and enjoy a nice, hot shower anytime you wish.

Lights for Effect
Many of us use our bathrooms not only for putting on makeup, showering and shaving, but as a haven to escape from all the stress in our daily lives. With this in mind, bathroom lighting takes on a whole new meaning.
To create whatever setting you may be in the mood for, you can use wall scones or overhead lights with dimmers. Using recessed floodlights in combination with other general forms of lighting will help to avoid shadowing effects in your bathroom.
Also, a diffused wall mounted light placed near the mirror will cut down on shadows of the halogen floodlights. A ceiling-mounted diffused lighting fixture is available if you're unable to mount fixtures on the wall. Whether you want to create your bathroom lighting for romance, relaxation or just putting on makeup, with a dimmer switch, you can control any mood you desire. Now dim the lights and spend a few hours of relaxation.
Add a Big Mirror
Sometimes, just the idea of adding a large lighted mirror to your small bath will give more of a feeling of space and luxury. These can be expensive or cheap but remember that mirrors normally last a long time unless, of course, they somehow get broken.
Tile and Other Flooring Choices
When choosing bathroom flooring, you have many choices of what type would best suit your modernized bathroom. Available are tile, linoleum, vinyl, marble and granite and a laminate wood look flooring. The durability and moisture resistance should also be carefully considered. Also matching your bath colors to the flooring is very important.
Not only will adding new flooring accent your bath design, but also a towel ring, decorative mirror, plants, designer shower curtain and rugs will make your bathroom complete. Now that you have all you need in your new modernized bathroom, dim the lights and spend a few hours of relaxation.

Large Bathroom Mirrors
Enhance Your Bath Design By Adding Large Bathroom Mirrors
Don't you just love the elegance that large bathroom mirrors add to your bath decor? Whether it's for shaving, putting on makeup, fixing your hair or just seeing how good you look, I bet you have at least one mirror in your bathroom.
Eventhough you have this mirror for all these obvious reasons, have you ever thought of using your bathroom mirror as a decorating tool?
Miracle of Large Bathroom Mirrors
Adding large wall mirrors to any room can work wonders, especially to your bathroom decor. The mirrors will help create the illusion of more space and draw attention to your beautiful objects and furnishings.
Perhaps the classically stunning example is illustrated in The Hall of Mirrors at Versailles. The so-called Sun King was mesmerized by light and he used mirrors to bring the sun inside. He was obviously successful. Unless you're lucky enough to have a large bathroom, this room often is the one the builder has borrowed space from to make other living spaces a bit larger.
Strategically placed large mirrors can literally make the bathroom look twice its size. Sure, it won't give you any more storage space, but that cramped feeling will disappear as soon as the mirror, or mirrors are hung. One tip to always remember when purchasing your bathroom mirrors is not to choose a really large one if you have a small bathroom. The same goes for a large bathroom, don't choose a overly small mirror.
Lighten Up Bathroom With Large Wall Mirrors
Bathrooms are also notorious for being on the shady side of the floor plan. The long, narrow bathroom is typically laid out with the tub on one side, with the sink at one end and the toilet to the side or opposite the sink. This leaves one of the side walls open. You can install a long wall mirror on this open space which not only creates an illusion of spaciousness, but will reflect the light from the window into the room.
Size Is Not The Only Factor
There are several important factors that you will need to consider when purchasing large bathroom mirrors. One factor is the style of the mirror. The basic consideration in this matter is the over-all theme of your bathroom Also, choosing the right color can create a decorative accent to your bath design and help in brightening up your bathroom.
Consider Shape Of Large Bath Room Mirror
It's also important to think about the theme of your bathroom when choosing the shape of your large mirrors. For instance, if the objects displayed in your bathroom are round shaped, buy a round shaped mirror.
So Many Bathroom Mirrors To Choose From
Just remember these few tips when you go shopping for large bathroom mirrors because you will find the possibilities are endless. So take your time and find the right mirror that creates a beautiful illusion in your bathroom.
Kids Shower Curtains
Choosing The Right Kids Shower Curtains
Have you just completed remodeling your child's bathroom and now comes the time to choose accessories. Who will choose your kids shower curtains?
Use Good Judgment When Buying Kids Shower Curtain
Many children today have the luxury of their own bathrooms - personalized decorating and accessories - one of which are kids shower curtains.
Because children tend to be much more imaginative and free spirited than adults, the plain shower curtain just won't do. It now has to match the coordinated bath towels and mats. There are so many kids shower curtain classic designs from which to choose, you may find picking a shower curtain your child will love to be quite a task!
Let Kids the Style They Want
Why not make a deal with your older children concerning their shower curtain? Tell them you will include them on the shopping trip and they can pick out their own curtain if they will take care of cleaning the bathroom.
If you have more than one child, let them each pick out a kids shower curtain. Get them to take turns cleaning the bath and when it's their turn they get to put up the shower curtain they chose. When purchasing kids shower curtains, be sure to take all aspects of the project into consideration. We all know that kids love playful and brightly colored decor, so whatever you choose, stay away from the common and simple design.
Choose Affordable Shower Curtain For Kids Bath
Look for a durable, stain-resistant curtain that coordinates with your child's bathroom color scheme, and which is reasonably priced. Once you buy a few, you'll realize that inexpensive curtains are best, because in the near future there may be a need to change that curtain.
Kids Are Always Changing Their Mind
As kids grow older, they are known for quickly getting tired of things they once thought wonderful. They may want a new design or color for their bath decor.
Rips and tears can also occur with children's rambunctious habits. When this happens, the curtain will need to be replaced immediately. So an expensive designer curtain may prove itself just a little over priced for its life span in your child's bathroom.
Other Factors In Choosing The Right Kids Shower Curtains
Always choose a shower curtain with darker or brighter shades such as green, red, pink, blue or purple. Light colored kids shower curtains will moisture stains much faster than darker ones. These stains will make your child's fun curtain a dingy sight to look at.
Popular Themes For Kids Shower Curtains
Your kids will love taking a bath in their tub with their fun shower curtain theme. I would have to say that one of the most popular bath curtains for young kids today would be the clear plastic one with animals on it.
This curtain, which should have a solid liner to hang inside the shower, is available with pictures of swimming dolphins or an assortment of kitty patterns. Other backgrounds your kids will love to look at while taking a bath are fishes, starfish and even waddling penguins
Tips For Purchasing Your Kids Shower Curtain
Make sure that the curtain for your child's bath is stain resistant, of good quality, and fairly inexpensive. Above all, carefully and safely secure the kids shower curtains to avoid any accidents for your little one. But, remember, when you go shopping for a shower curtain for your young child, take them with you and just have fun!!!
Instantaneous Water Heaters
CAUTION! Instantaneous Water Heaters Might Give You Instant Pleasure!
Nothing like a long, hot bath after a hard day but do you get instant hot water? Here's a design idea to help heat up your morning or night.
Use Instant Water Heaters to Supply Hot Water to Your Remote Bathroom
Instantaneous or tankless water heaters provide hot water only as it is needed. Another name for the instantaneous heaters is demand. These systems heat water directly without the use of a storage tank. Cold water flows to the instantaneous system to be heated at the moment the tap is turned on, thus avoiding the standby heat losses associated with storage water heaters.
The choice is yours, whether you want an electric or gas-fired tankless water heater, for your outdoor sink, hot tub, pool house or remote bathroom. If you choose an electric, you will need to consider the electrical requirements. Or, if you are more impressed with gas-fired, you will need to take in consideration the gas type ( natural or propane ) and venting requirements.
Instant Water Heating Drawbacks
These tankless heaters call for a bigger power supply or larger gas lines and vents since the heating elements and gas requirements for these units are much larger than those for storage water heaters.
Since energy is not required for storing the water in the tankless water heaters, they are considered to be energy efficient. But, just a reminder that if the pilot light is left on a gas-powered tankless heater, it will use energy. Another disadvantage is finding a service man and parts if your instantaneous water heater happens to break down, especially if you live a small town.
How Much Instant Hot Water do You Need?
Instantaneous water heaters are very convenient for remote bathrooms, small apartments and even hotel rooms. But, since they limit the amount of hot water that can be supplied, these demand heaters wouldn't allow you to do your normal everyday chores such as running the dishwasher and showering at the same time.
A few advantages of these tankless heaters are that they provide warm water immediately and they make great back-up systems for appliances that use a great deal of hot water such as washing machines and dishwashers.
If you do decide on using this type in your home, make sure it has modulating temperature control. If not, your water temperature will fluctuate and this will make your shower very uncomfortable. You may even want to consider installing two tankless systems if you have a large family.
Buying and Installation
There are several factors you should consider when deciding what type of Instantaneous water heater is right for your needs. One very important factor is knowing the flow rate of your fixtures. You should also consider how many faucets will require hot water and exactly where you need hot water.
Installing a tankless water heater may be a little more expensive than you planned. New plumbing, gas and electricity lines and flues and vents may be required. It may be best to consult with an electrician and plumber before any decisions are made final.
If you plan to make this a diy remodeling project, check with the manufacturer and local building code agency to guarantee proper installation. Just keep this thought in mind -- An instantaneous water heater will normally last twice as long as a conventional one. This, along with the energy efficiency and lower operating costs, makes it sound pretty incredible. Now, up for a hot shower?
High Pressure Shower Head
Just Can't Imagine Living Without My High Pressure Shower Head
Taking a relaxing hot shower in the morning is the highlight of my day. I always look forward to standing under my high pressure shower head, don't you?
Feel Squeaky Clean With Your High Pressure Shower Head
Do you feel relaxed and satisfied while standing under your shower head?
Well, you should since showering is part of the grooming rituals most of us do every single day, and getting clean is something that we all take seriously. In my opinion, when it comes to taking a shower, you must have a high pressure shower head if you want to feel your cleanest. I especially enjoy the unique shower heads with the numerous massaging spray patterns.
You may not realize that you have one until you have to do without it. It may seem like a simple thing, but you will find that you can’t do without it once you get used to have it. If you are still using a low pressure shower head, you may end up with flat hair and skin that feels funky because the soap may have not been washed off.
High Pressure Shower Heads Cost More
Many places are replacing their high pressure shower head showers with lower pressure models to conserve water and cut back expensives. You may find this in apartment buildings, college dorms, or in the hotels you stay in when you travel. For someone like me, this is not good.
I Can't Believe There's Not High A Pressure Shower Head
One of my pet peeves is to be cooped up in the car while traveling for many hours, thinking about getting in a nice hot shower. Then, I arrive at the hotel and jump in the shower and guess what? Dribbly water coming out of a low pressure shower head. Some people may actually feel refreshed from this type of pressure, but for me, this is a huge problem.
Can't Imagine Life Without High Pressure Shower Heads
I have thick, naturally curly hair, and if I don’t have a high pressure shower head, I can never get all of the cleaning product out of my hair. I also find that my skin seems to have film on it if I don’t have a high pressure shower head when I take my daily shower. It just seems that without the pressure, the soap just won’t come off my skin like it should.
It’s almost like feeling unclean after a shower, and it always makes me feel like I need to take another one. If I find myself faced with anything other than a high pressure shower head, I skip washing my hair for that day because I know I am better off.
My friends keep telling me I should conserve water by using a low pressure shower head, but if I'm going to have to stay in the shower longer to get the soap and shampoo off, I still won't save any water.
I'm sure there are many others like me who won't use any other kind of shower head. But, maybe if we are put under drought conditions, we will consider replacing our high pressure shower heads.
A Personal Story
When I first moved into my house, I thought the shower pressure was miserable. I figured that the plumbing was old or something. There's not much you can do about that. Fixing it will cost thousands of dollars. I found out that the problem was much easier to fix. Once I got a high pressure shower head, it worked like magic.
You might think that high pressure shower heads are not very important to the quality of your shower, but you are dead wrong. You see, with this big water conservation craze, many people put in water saving shower heads. Some of these are alright for people who just take a bath to get clean, and some of them even do have a pretty high degree of pressure, but for people like me who really enjoy their showers, they are not enough.
Without a good stream of water, a shower is practically worthless to me. My wife tries to guilt trip me about using up too much water, but I don't pay her any mind. I just turn on the high pressure shower head and drown out all my cares!
The best thing about getting heads with lots of power is that they work even if the water pressure is only so-so. They concentrate the stream of water, causing it to feel like gallons and gallons are pouring down on you.
There are actually water saving high-pressure units for just this purpose, but in our house, the plumbing is good enough that we don't need them. I don't mind wasting the water. We live in an area with plenty of water, so I don't feel too bad about it. For me, the high pressure shower head is worth it. I almost couldn't get by without it.
It can be very hard to pick out the right high pressure shower head. It isn't like picking out a pair of extra long designer curtains. You can't look each product and see if it is right for your bathroom decor. You have to go on faith. Consumer Reports can help, but I had to go through three or four before I found one that I really liked.
Find Out For Yourself How Great High Pressure Shower Heads Really Are
So, if you want to get the full benefits of a nice hot bath with plenty of power, you may want to give the high pressure shower head a try. These shower heads are available in handheld or fixed types and can be found at your local Home Depot or almost anywhere you buy home improvement items. Try one out today!! You'll never want to go back to low pressure again.

Guide to Pedestal Bathroom Sinks
A Five Minute Guide to Pedestal Bathroom Sinks
So, you're remodeling your bath but aren't sure what to do about limited space for the sink? One design idea is to consider a pedestal sink for your bath during this project ... Beautiful!
Not Just another Sink for the Bath
So now your next small remodeling project is to change your dull bathroom into one with an elegant and clean look by adding a pedestal sink. Since bathroom pedestal sinks come in so many different shapes, sizes, styles, colors and designs, you've made a wise decision.
Pedestal Sink Types
If you have a small bathroom or half-bath, a pedestal sink with Moen faucets would be a great addition for your bath decor. Just keep in mind, this type of sink, in which the basin and stand are a single unit, does not provide any extra storage space beneath so don't forget about the extra wall cabinets you may need.
The Design Scheme of Your Bathroom Sink
You may decide on a pedestal sink with wide basins made of stone and wrought iron or maybe one made of ceramic or glass that has two faucets instead of one. There are even designer pedestal sinks available with vanities that you can match with your fabric shower curtains. Just think how great stone-tile flooring that would look with your unique pedestal bathroom sink.
Your Favorite Color?
White seems to be the a very popular color for bathroom pedestal sinks, but many people prefer colors that match their theme. Blue also seems to be a favorite, especially for those who choose an ocean theme. Some even prefer a black pedestal sink that really makes new bath decor stand out.
Things to Consider when Buying a Pedestal Sink
Several important factors you should consider before purchasing a bathroom pedestal sink are the location of the sink, theme, design and color and, of course, available space. You also want to consider the rest of your bath decor and how well the design of the sink matches it.
The Faucet on Your Bathroom Sink needs to Collaborate
Not only do you want a faucet to match your bathroom theme, you also want one of good quality such as Moen or one of the other popular brands. Since faucet sets don't usually come with the sink, you may want to choose the sink first.
The Corner Pedestal
If space is a major problem in your bathroom, you might consider a corner pedestal. These compact sinks fit into any corner and look great in any bathroom.
Have you even thought about all the other items you have to place around your sink such as wall cabinets and bathtub shower curtains? Do you need designer, extra long or a more modern fabric type? Or you if you have a tub, maybe refurbishing or a liner? Maybe you need to give this some thought!!!
Shop Around and Go Crazy
Deciding which sink best suits your bath decor may be a problem since there are so many designs available. The main thing is not to get stressed out about it, just check with your local home improvement store or go online for some expert advice on pedestal bathroom sinks.

Brighten Decor with Bathroom Lighting
Experience Radiant Bathroom Lighting for Vanity or Need
When you turn on the lights, what happens? Do you just see a bulb or do you see magnificent and decorative vanity bathroom lighting? Do you want to? Let's start your next DIY remodeling project with these design ideas.
Don't Just Turn on the Light, Turn on Exquisite Bathroom Lighting that Glows
Have you ever thought about the bathroom being the room where you start and end your day? This is where you go every morning to relax in the hot shower and do your many other personal tasks such as shaving and putting on make-up.
With this in mind, don't you think that adding adequate lighting should be your next small remodeling project.
The One Light Wonder
In order to obtain the bright lighting that is essential around the tub and shower area, one light may not be quite enough, even in a smaller bathroom. You'll also want to keep in mind the lights in your bath will have a big influence on the decor and especially the colors.
Vanity Lighting
Since shaving, fixing your hair and putting on make-up are every day personal tasks, vanity lighting should be on your top list when remodeling. Be sure to position the lighting where there will be no glare or unwanted shadows on walls, fixtures or mirrors. You want it to be even and easy on the eyes.
Shadows Lurking
If your mirror is not too wide, vertical lighting or scounces can be positioned on either side. This is great for casting an even light across the face. A fixture over the mirror will also focus on the face and hair evenly and should contain at least 150 watts and positioned 75 to 80 inches above the floor.
Floors
To make your tile flooring brighter and to keep shadows off of your bathroom ceiling, you may want to use lighter colors on tiles for better reflection and install some lower hanging lights for your main bath lighting. This should take care of the challenge.
Tub or Shower Lighting
Since safety is or at least should be a big issue in the bathroom, adequate lighting around the tub and shower is essential. An enclosed, recessed downlight, which is designed for wet or damp areas, should be used in tub and shower enclosures.
This will not only help you feel relaxed while bathing, but will also prevent some of the common accidents from happening such as falling or cutting yourself while shaving. Better safe than sorry!
Save Money on Bathroom Lighting Costs
Did you know that just by changing your incandescent light bulbs to the new, environment friendly compact florescent bulbs will amount to big savings in the long term? Also, installing dimmer switches in the bathroom is not only a great way to have complete control over your bathroom lighting, giving it that glamour and romantic setting, but the good part is you will also be conserving energy. We all love to save money, don't we?
General Bathroom Lighting
Everyone agrees that the lighting in your home should provide beauty, but keep in mind your large or small bathroom should also be designed for function and not just for looks. Whether you choose a normal light or one with an exhaust fan in your bath area, it should be bright enough for you to perform your daily tasks. What good is ambiance without being able to see what you are doing?
Choosing the Best and Cheapest Light Fixtures
Save both time and money by shopping online for your bathroom light fixtures. Buying on the Internet will give you the opportunity to see exactly what styles and designs are available for you to choose that will match your fabric shower curtain, tiles, unique wall cabinets and any other fixtures you already have installed. You might not want to change the whole theme so shop carefully.

Start today with your new ideas for a DIY remodeling project by adding the right bathroom lighting and tonight you can relax in your beautiful, well-lit tub. Remember to buy plenty of soap!

The Mystery Behind Black Bathroom Shower Curtains
Did you know you can change the theme, mood and atmosphere of your bath by changing just one accessory? You are probably looking around your bathroom right now wondering what it could possibly be. Creating A Colorful Bathroom
You will be awestruck at the elegance and sophistication of your bathroom once you add a black shower curtain. After you see how well this color matches the color scheme of your bath decor, you will be extremely pleased.
The Black Shower Curtain Elegance Experience
If you want to impress your overnight guests, an extra wide black shower curtain will do the trick. Some with think this is so out the ordinary, especially in your white bathroom. Just to keep them talking, you may want to add more black accessories.
The White Album? No But Maybe
I get a lot of compliments on my contrasting black shower curtain and white bathroom. I myself think it is out of this world and am proud I chose a black shower curtain and other dark hue accessories for my white bath.
Why the Black Shower Curtain was My Choice
I worry a lot about fashion, so I made up my mind on having a black shower curtain, since this color seems to be always in. I knew it would look great with my bathroom decor and especially with my tile flooring with small black diamonds. My friend gave me a great idea for my new bath design. She said hanging an off white towel, which has gray tones, along with a black and white hand towel and wash cloth would add a little warmth to the bathroom.
I also found out that by adding black elements to my neutral-colored bathroom, the small room was no longer boring. So, I've come to the conclusion that you can't go wrong by adding this type shower curtain in a designer or extra long styles, no matter what your bathroom color choices are.
Regarding the Fabric Shower Curtain
Recently, I decided my bathroom needed a change, but since I don't have a whole lot of extra cash, I knew it had to be a small project. So, I pondered for a few days over what I could change to give my bathroom a whole new look. Out of the blue, some shower curtain ideas came to mind.
So, I came to a conclusion that I would replace my fabric shower curtain. Instead of rushing right out to the nearest bathroom accessory shop, I first went online to see what styles and designs were available to fit my theme. My friend suggested that I make my own unique curtains and just buy a basic liner, but that was out of the question for me so I just asked her to go shopping with me at the local Bed and Bath.
Making Bath Decor Choices
After we walked around the store for at least a hour, I finally come to the conclusion that I wanted another designer fabric shower curtain since I really liked everything about my old one. I then had to decide whether I wanted a solid or patterned one and what color would match the rest of my accessories, since spending extra money on new towels and rugs was definitely out for me anytime soon. With budget a problem, I knew better than to even think about replacing the floor tiles.
For my hanging addition, I knew I wanted a neutral color that looked really good and set the mood for a relaxing bath, so I chose black.
The Dark Wonder of It All
My friend asked me why I chose this color, but once she saw it, she was so impressed with the sophistication the hookless black shower curtain added to my modern bathroom that she decided to change her decor as well. I was really thrilled at the nice contrast the black added to my white walls and now enjoy the luxury and elegance the curtains bring to my personal little room.
See how it easy it is to get a whole new look and theme in a bathroom without spending a ton of money. Something simple like adding a black shower curtain will amaze you!!!
Bath Toys
Listen To Your Children's Laughter As They Enjoy Their Bath Toys
Bath Toys For A Fun Filled Bath
For parents, choosing the right bath toys that straddle fun and safety requires some thought and with younger kids, constant supervision. For kids, bath time is one of the joys of life. Bath toys are part and parcel of taking a bath, especially tub toys that float.
Don't Forget The Favorite Bath Toys
The favorites include foam bath toys, crayon bath tub toys and the waterwheel.
Be Aware Of Bath Toys For Toddlers
Come bath time, toddlers want to bring half of their toy chest in to the tub.
A Bratz doll or a metal car may be must-haves for your child. You're afraid of the danger posed by these bath time toys that tend to sink rather than swim. A bath full of bubbles, with the Bratz doll or the beloved metal car at the bottom of the tub, means that there's the potential of your child going underwater to search out their toy.
Never Leave Child Alone
Direct supervision is an absolute necessity. Even when you're right there, a child might dip their head underwater to retrieve their favorite bath toy, swallowing water simply because they don't know any better.
Such an event can trigger a fear of water in a child that's not easily outgrown. Kids are adventurous and inexperienced in life. They won't know they're putting themselves in danger by sticking their head underwater. Such accidents happen in seconds. Make sure you're always present at bath time with younger children.
Choose Bath Toys Wisely
This is why it's a good idea to have a collection of safe floating tub toys which are on the 'approved' list of bath toys. So, when you're toy shopping, be on the lookout for any cute, floating toy that also catches the eye of your kids.
Foam wrist and ankle toys, meant for use in swimming pools, make excellent toys for the bath. Kids thrill to the idea that feet and hands can float in the bath, while the rest of their body sits firmly on the bottom of the tub.
Organize Bath Toys
Assemble a box full of these toys, so that, come bath time, there is no shortage of a tub full of safe bath toys. Your kids will come to revere this choice collection of toys, exclusively meant for bath time enjoyment. However, there's bound to be a toy or two that doesn't fall in to the floating category. Perhaps your child just can't do without that metal race car.
Let Kids Play A Game With Bath Toy
In this case, make a game out of finding the toy which has sunk to the bottom. “Where has it gone? Let's see how quickly you can find it, without looking.” Now finding the missing bath toy becomes a safe game. However, don't fool yourself for a second. Should you leave the room to answer the phone, disaster can ensue.
Selecting The Right Bath Toys
Choosing good bath toys for bath time fun is an art. Convincing the kids that these designated toys are the ones they choose is a talent to be cultivated. In the end, you will have served two purposes. You've made bath time fun and safe while keeping happy kids, which are your end objective.
Bath Safety
Make Bath Safety Your Top Priority
Don't Wait Until It's Too Late For Safety In Your Bathroom
Most parents understand the danger of small children getting injured or drowning in a backyard pool, but they may not be informed enough about the other places this tragedy can take place.
A very serious issue that should be touched upon just as much or more than outdoor water safety is bath safety. Numerous injuries occur in bathrooms daily, and most of them involve children and water. According to Dr. Paul at www.drpaul.com, the most common injury to children in bathrooms is caused by scalding hot tap water.
Always Check Water Temperature
This can sometimes be prevented by keeping water heaters set below 130 degrees at all times. But never just rely on the water heater setting. As a safety precaution, parents should always check the bath water before the child gets in to make sure it is of an appropriate temperature.
Bath Safety To Prevent Drowning
Drowning in the bath tub and in the toilet is also common and again occurs because of lack of parental supervision. Remember, all it takes is just a few seconds. The number one cause of death related injuries for ages one to four is drowning. More than half of these are bathtub accidents.
So, think about this the next time your child is in the tub and your phone or doorbell rings. It’s just not worth the consequences to leave your young kid unattended, especially since they can drown quickly in just a few inches of water.
Bath safety applies to everyone in the home and it is very important for everyone to practice especially the elderly and children. Statistics show that the greatest number of injuries and bath safety issues occur in these two groups. Bath safety is very essential for the elderly.
Don't Take Away Their Self Confidence
Just getting in and out of the bath tub or shower can prove to be challenging at times for them. Slipping in the shower is also a very common accident among the elderly. So, if you have an elderly person living in your home or alone, take a few extra minutes and set up a bath safety plan for them.
Just by taking these few simple safety precautions, as well as some simple bath safety equipment can go a long way towards preventing a dangerous fall for your loved one.
Elderly Bath Safety Tips
Install safety grab bars in their bathtub or shower. Replace their old worn mats in their tubs and showers with non-slip mats. If you are remodeling these features come standard on many of the senior walk in bathtubs. Another very important bath safety tip is to make sure there are no-slip decals on the bottom of the bath. You will be amazed at how these little decorative stickers can help prevent falls by keeping the tub from being so slippery.
For the elderly who have a problem standing while in the shower, there are special safety bath and shower chairs available for them. These safety devices are very inexpensive to add to any bathroom and protect everyone in your family.
Don't Forget Baby Bath Safety
Many times parents place their babies in a small plastic tub in the kitchen sink. This is fine as long as the baby is never left unattended. Remember, it only takes seconds for the baby to fall out of the tub or drown in a few inches of water.
Bath safety is a very large part of home safety and is essential for every member of the family. So take whatever precautions are necessary to keep you and your family safe while enjoying your nice hot shower or bath.
Bathroom Vanity Furniture
Transform Your Bathroom with New Vanities and Sinks
Saving Space with Open Vanities
When decorating, the bathroom is the one room which is usually ignored, other than adding new shower curtains or bath mats and maybe a few little wall accessories. Yet, for many, the bathroom is a place to relax while we soak in bubbles or use aromatherapy, and read. Whether we have a suite size bathroom, or one that is lacking in open space, a few changes with remodeling can return the cozy appeal it once had.
Styles and sizes
Bathroom vanity furniture is available in a variety of sizes which allow for a double or single sink. They often serve as a storage unit for bath supplies such as soaps, shampoo, towels, or cleaning supplies, keeping them hidden, yet readily available.
Using open space in the bath
Vanities are no longer the ordinary sink and cabinet combination. They are being designed to add space with the use of wall mounted vanities, and the open vanity, bath storage sinks. The various open vanities can be installed easily by that handyman around the house. The tall bathroom vanity furniture adds height, which eliminates bending over the sink.
Contemporary sinks and vanities
One great look in bathroom vanity furniture is the open vanity, in a contemporary style, is the Dreamline Glass Single Bathroom Vanity which is made from gray tempered glass with a chrome finish. The glass storage shelves underneath are spacious allowing for storage of bathroom necessities.
A vessel sink works well with this vanity. For those who love the pedestal and stone look, the Dreamline Honey Onyx Petite Athens Stone Pedestal Single Seashell Vanity, with a hexagonal pedestal base is absolutely gorgeous.
Waterfall faucet for luxury decor
An added touch such as a waterfall faucet will definitely add sophistication to your bath, or your powder room. Another open vanity idea has been to use a counter top attached to the wall with a vessel sink, with open space underneath, that allows not only for storage, but the toilet as well, which works well with the smaller bathroom by providing for more open space.
Types of material
As part of your bathroom renovations, you may want to consider using stone, or mosaic glass in place of the traditional wall and floor tiles for a unique look. Natural stones are easy to install and resistant to moisture, as well as having a non slip surface.
They come in a variety of shades or you can create a unique design with mixing the shades. The choices of vanities and sinks will certainly provide you with the opportunity to create a luxurious bath with your own unique style in combination with stone or the mosaic glass flooring. There are many styles of bathroom vanities so the possibilities are endless. Vanities should go along with your bathroom accessories, tub or shower, toilet, and other bath decor items and colors.
What are Vanities?
Bathroom vanities are small cabinets that feature a built-in sink or two with faucets and sometimes even an attached mirror or medicine cabinet. A vanity looks like a small version of a kitchen cabinet and usually has fancy carvings and knobs to give it a decorative appeal.
Most home cabinet manufacturers build and sell vanities as well. There are three basic types as defined by manufacturers:
Euro Style (or frameless)
standard North American Frame
and Furniture.
Euro Style Bathroom Vanities
The Euro Style cabinets are frameless, meaning they don't have a face frame. The cabinet doors are hung on the box and are usually made of laminated particle board.
A sturdier, more durable option for Euro Style vanities is flakeboard (furniture-grade) for the cabinet doors, which will usually last longer and withstand the moisture.
North American Style with Frame
The North American vanity has a face frame, which is attached to a box. The doors hang from the frame. The cabinet frames are usually made of fiberboard or plywood, or solid wood for a higher grade vanity.
Furniture Vanities for Luxury Baths
The Furniture type vanity is a trendy and luxurious bathroom cabinet that resembles fine furniture instead of a standard box and frame. These are finely crafted and sold as high-end bath furniture. There are even custom design options for the really fancy bathroom decor.
Bathroom Vanity Materials and Pricing
Bathroom vanities are often made of synthetic materials or wood. The cabinets might be laminated, veneered, or painted. Popular woods include cherry wood and maple, with oak still being a favorite.
Thermafoil doors are gaining popularity because of the medium density fiberboard that is coated in opaque plastic. Many cabinets have a natural stained wood look or are painted white. Pedestal bathroom sinks also come in fancy designs made of wood, wrought iron, or stone.
The pricing for bathroom vanities ranges from $95 to over $1000 dependent upon the type of cabinet and the materials used to build it.
Bathroom Vanity Shopping Ideas
Vanities are available at home furniture outlets, home remodeling stores, some department stores, and at many online stores. Shop around before choosing a vanity to be sure and find the perfect one to fit your needs.
Choose Carefully
A vanity should be both decorative and practical. If you feel two sinks will be more convenient, look for vanities with double sinks. If you need lots of storage, look for a vanity with plenty of cabinet space underneath.
How Much Should You Spend?
Also, choose a higher quality vanity even if it means paying more so the cabinet will last longer against moisture. The bathroom is where the most moisture builds in your home, and some materials will last longer than others in moist conditions.
When considering a bath vanity, think of how it will look in the room with your other fixtures and bathroom accessories. For decorating girl's bathrooms, vanities should be a little fancy with colors and designs to fit her taste. For a boy's bathroom, a simplistic design will do.
Compliment Your Other Bathroom Accessories
Also, consider how it will look with a bathroom mirror and your bath lighting. These all go together to set the mood in the room. With a complete bath remodeling project, think of the bathroom furniture and accessories ahead of time so you can plan appropriately.
Use these tips to compare bathroom vanities and find the perfect match to create a stylish look everyone will adore! Now, you're ready to move on to your other bath decor ideas!
Bathroom Towel Rack
Your Remodeling Is Not Complete Until You've Chosen The Right Bathroom Towel Rack
Creating a special atmosphere in your bathroom is not as difficult as it may seem. There are plenty of accessories that can really help you capture a mood and a style and many of them are utilitarian as well.
Simple Bathroom Towel Rack Can Make All The Difference
One of these details is the bathroom towel rack. This item can really emphasize the feel of the room if it is carefully selected. A bathroom towel rack should suit the feel and style of your particular taste. I found that I could build an entire theme around the bathroom towel rack!
Which Bathroom Towel Rack Should I Choose?
I chose to adopt an antique motif for my bathroom decorating ideas. There were three viable options for my bathroom towel rack that I had to consider. Believe it or not, I had a harder time choosing from the three racks than I did choosing the bath tiles and color scheme.
The room is relatively large so I really wasn’t worried about saving space. However, a wall-mounted bathroom towel rack that boasted brass plated swinging bars really caught my eye. One can never have enough room in a small bath and the very idea of the lovely material as well as the Art Deco design of the unit drew me to this particular option.
However, I soon lost interest in this bathroom towel rack once I caught a glimpse of the wrought iron version that looked as if it jumped out of an old Victorian mansion.
This item was embellished with detailed scrolling as well as a metal shelf for storing items. The wrought iron bathroom towel rack took more floor space but it did offer elegant beauty as well as additional storage.
This version also offered hooks for hand towels and washcloths, too. The classic design was perfect for the antique theme and I really thought that I had found the perfect bathroom towel rack.
Heated Bathroom Towel Rack Caught My Eye
However, an unlikely choice finally got the last of my attention. While I love the idea of an antique bath I really love modern amenities such as nice, warm towels.
So the heated bathroom towel rack won me over. I chose a brass finish that is perfect for the room. The design segues into my décor effortlessly and I still reap the benefits of this unit and there are many benefits.
Benefits Of Heated Bathroom Towel Rack
First of all, the unit keeps my towels warm and dry. The unit also serves to fight mildew in the area and this is very appealing. Set up was a breeze and the heated bathroom towel rack plugs right into an outlet in the wall. I may have chosen an antique motif but I am still modern at heart.
Shopping for the Perfect Bathroom Towel Rack
A good place to start your search for the perfect bathroom towel rack is online. Just a reminder!! Choose a material and style that captures your taste in the humble bathroom towel rack.
Bathroom Tiles
When You Look Down What Type Bathroom Tiles Do You See?
Bathroom Flooring
When remodeling a bath one important factor to remember is the bathroom tiles. Flooring is one of the first things noticed in a remodeled room. It is always a good idea to think about what goes on in your bathroom before you remodel it. One of the most important things to remember is that you use a lot of water, and it might go everywhere, especially if you have kids.
This is why tiles are very popular for the bathroom. They are water resistant, and they are easy to clean and install. Bathroom tile designs do not have to be boring, but they are an exceptionally good idea to protect your walls and floors from water damage.
You can go with the basic white tile patterns if you wish, and these can be a great look. Some like to have an all white bathroom, and that can look fresh and clean. Many more, however, love to have some color.
You can get your tile designs in many colors, or you can save the color for your shower curtains, window curtains, towels, and wash clothes. There are endless ways to add color, so it’s quite all right to get white tiles if that is what you want to have.
DIY Bathroom Tiles Installation?
Installing your bathroom tiles can be something you do yourself, though some prefer to have someone else do it for them. If you don’t think you are very handy, or you simply don’t have the time to do it on your own, there are many qualified people who can do the job for you, and they can usually do it very quickly.
When it comes to laying tile, you may have to cut some to get the room to look right, and many fear doing this wrong. However, if you want to do it on your own, find somewhere to learn. It won’t be that hard if you have instruction.
Choosing Your Bathroom Tiles
When choosing tiles for your bath, remember that you are making an investment that will last a long time. Tiles are generally durable, and you won’t have to worry about replacing them. That makes them a bargain. They are also easier to clean, even for those who might have hard water. Concentrate on finding the right colors and patterns, and choose something you know you can live with for years to come.
Some like to remodel quite often, but most can’t afford to do so. That is why choosing something you love is important, but following trends might not be. Trends will come and go, but your bathroom will remain the same. Now, look down and see your new flooring. Doesn't your new tile design look great in your bathroom?
Bathroom Space Saver
Feeling Crowded? These Bathroom Space Saver Tips Will Help
One of the smallest yet most used rooms in almost every home is the bathroom. Unless you were fortunate enough to design your own home, you probably have struggled with trying to find enough room to keep everything in the bathroom that needs to be there.
In addition to extra towels and toilet tissues, medications, creams, toothpaste and hair products all need a spot they can call home. A bathroom space saver can increase the storage in any bathroom in just a few minutes. They are easy to install and very affordable.
Home improvement stores are a great place to begin the search for one of these handy items. They can be purchased in kits or already assembled. A bathroom space saver kit is generally less expensive and not hard to assemble and mount on the wall. In the case of a bathroom space saver that has already been put together, the only requirement is to hang it up.
Colors Of Bathroom Space Savers
The typical color is white and the unit can certainly be used as is. If it’s being mounted above a white toilet, the color will fit nicely into the bathroom. However, a white bathroom space saver can be painted to better match the décor of the room. Another design features wood such as cedar or pine.
This lends to a more rustic look and it’s important to treat the wood before mounting it. The moisture in the bathroom can lead to damage of the surface of the bathroom space saver if left untreated.
Hanging is fairly simple but requires a helper. Although it’s possible for someone skilled in the use of a drill and screwdriver to hang the unit alone, it’s much easier and quicker if two people work together.
Ensuring the bathroom space saver is mounted on the wall straight can be done with the aid of a level. You really don’t want to get it on the wall only to discover it’s leaning to the right or the left.
Once it’s up on the wall items can be placed on it. Some people use them to store general everyday things such as a razor, hairbrush and extra soap.
Others purchase a larger bathroom space saver that can accommodate extra towels and washcloths. One item that always seems to run out in the bathroom is extra toilet tissue and this can be hidden away in the bathroom space saver and out of view until it’s needed.
Whether you choose a bath room space saver that hangs on the wall or whether you choose an item that sits on the floor you have a lot of choices to make.
Items that mount to the wall come in an array of styles and designs and floor models can either sit conveniently above the commode or they can be freestanding. Extra storage is always welcome in the bathroom. Whether it’s to hold perfumes and make-up or razors and after shave, a space saver can keep everything close at hand and organized.
Bathroom Scale
Weight Loss - Does Your Bathroom Scale Hate You?
Scales For The Bathroom Play An Essential Role In Losing Love Handles
It seems nowadays it's all about weight loss. This article will help to explain some solutions in using a bathroom scale in your quest for losing belly fat or love handles.
By now I am pretty sure that my bathroom scale hates me. You know what I am talking about right? Just like millions of my countrymen who try to fight the just battle of the bulge, I too was tempted to buy a bathroom scale.
I finally found one on a discount sale at the local Kmart and succumbed to my temptation. I regret my decision even now. You want to know why?
Well, the first thing is that I should have bought an exercise machine or at least enrolled in the local gym before I bought the bathroom scale. I didn’t do that and each time I step onto the bath room scales, I am severely taunted.
My bathroom scale is a constant and painful reminder of how many pounds I need to lose. You can call it my sarcastic sidekick in my battle against the bulge.
Most people I know usually have allies in the good fight, but I was unlucky enough to be blessed with a despicable fiend and that too in the form of a miserable bathroom scale.
Anyway, to cut a long story short, I could bear the taunting no more and decided that I would do something about the weighty issues that had made my life miserable. So the very next day, I enrolled in a crash program for losing weight at the neighborhood gym.
In My Visit For Weight Loss I Discovered Another Bathroom Scale. Here too, it seemed as though my travails were not to leave me alone. There was a gym scale, a slightly larger version of my friendly bathroom scale. And each day as I walked solemnly into the gym to check my weight, the fiend would creak with sarcasm as though I weighed a ton.
On that count my bathroom scale was a lot better. At least it never creaked. Nevertheless, undaunted, I would continue with my exertions in the vain hope that I would be able to get a nod or wink of approval from the bathroom scale. No such luck. You see, I am a sucker for the finer things in life. Which is one of the biggest failings a weight loss practitioner can ever have.
Bathroom Scales And Ice Cream
Each time I would hit the treadmill, I would more than amply compensate by attacking a juicy steak or a bowl of ice cream. And the result would appear like a smirk on the face of my despicable bathroom scale. So after having spent a month or two sweating it out in the gym, all I had managed to rid myself of was a couple of hundred dollars. So I did the next best thing I could. I got rid of the bathroom scale as well.
There's no doubt that the topic of using scales in your bathroom for weight loss can be fascinating. If you still have unanswered questions about weight loss, you may find what you're looking for in the next article. Now step on the scale and see what you weigh.
Bathroom Rugs
Bathroom Rugs As Part Of Your Bath Decor Project
Decorating A Bathroom With Rugs
Most of you probably feel like bathroom rugs are intended for a much important purpose such as keeping your feet warm and dry when stepping out the shower. But, many of you consider your rugs to be a main part of your bath decor, therefore they are considered a big part of your bathroom decoration.
The Classics
If a classic look is what you're wishing for, there are rugs that will make your dream come true by giving your bathroom the ideal look you want. Just pay close attention to the style and color of the bathroom rugs you choose.
Add The Right Bathroom Rugs For A Unique Decor Option
Wouldn't it be great to have several different colors and designs of bathroom rugs that match your decor? Well, since most bathroom rugs are quite affordable, maybe you won't have to narrow your choice down to just one. This will give you the chance to replace your rugs every now and then, especially during different times of the year.
Changing Bath Decor
Since bathroom rugs are so inexpensive, I've learned that I can change my entire bath decor anytime I want by adding glamour and luxury just by changing out my rugs. There has even been a time when I wanted a total solid color bathroom, so I coordinated my towels with reversible rugs that come in all colors, including my favorite which is lime green.
I sometimes switch from solid deep colored bathroom rugs to light neutral tones and especially during the summer months, my number one priority is replacing all my dark bathroom rugs with brightly colored washable area rugs.
Funny Bathroom Rugs
Bathroom rugs should be a reflection of your personality, so are you the type of person who has a sense of humor all the time or are you really serious about everything? Now you can choose your favorite design in whatever style and color you want. Maybe you like lighthouses or the ocean, or you may even prefer flowers. Just whatever suits your taste.
My Bathroom Rug Story
One of my biggest pet peeves is stepping out of a nice hot shower onto a cold slippery floor. So, when you walk into my bathroom, you will definitely see several rugs.
I love my thick pile bath rugs on my tile floor. They are so comfortable to my feet and very absorbent. I even have a couple of oval shaped reversible bathroom rugs. Of course, my overnight guests get to enjoy the extra large luxury rugs which come with coordinate toilet seat covers.
Yes, you could say I have a lot of different types of bathroom rugs, but I think they are a necessity to my bath decor. I also go through a lot of rugs, because some tend to wear out faster than others and some I just get tired of and give away.
No Cover-All Bathroom Rugs For Me
Some people prefer total floor covering, maybe because they get tired of rugs getting kicked around when walking on them. But me, I prefer my bathroom rugs, especially since I have a couple of males and kids living in my household.
Besides, with all the different types of bath rugs available, I can choose whatever color, pattern and design I want, but if my preference was wall-to-wall, I would only be able to choose from neutral colors.
I also enjoy selecting a bathroom rug set for Thanksgiving and Christmas season that are in a holiday color. You will be amazed at the Christmas spirit a bath rug will add to your decor.
So, I would have to say my pick is definitely bathroom rugs over wall-to-wall carpeting because they add so much to my bath and besides if I decide to pack up and move, my rugs can go with me.
Save Money And Start Out With Quality Bathroom Rugs
You may want to pay a little less for the rugs you are going to use just during the holidays, but for bathroom rugs that you plan to use all year round, you may want to invest in good quality rugs.
Be sure to check out the backing and the thickness along with the washing quality. Remember, these rugs will need to be cleaned frequently, especially with men and children living in the household. So, when shopping for a bathroom rug, take your time so you will end up with a good quality rug with the design you want.
Eventhough rugs for your bathroom are necessary, keep in mind that they will also add style and beauty to your room.

Bathroom Remodeling Ideas Add Beauty
Bathroom Remodeling Ideas from the Bottom Up
Remodeling a Bath - Add Beauty and Elegance to Your Bathroom with These Easy Steps
Probably one of the most popular remodeling projects for homes is bathroom remodeling. Ideas to remodel a bathroom are numerous, but knowing which will work for you is not always easy. Here are some great tips to get you started.
Choosing a Bath Remodeling Design
Before starting your project, choose a bathroom design that fits your likes and goes along with the rest of your home decor. If the bathroom is small, find design ideas to make it appear roomier and make the most of your small space. If remodeling a larger bathroom, choose a design that's pleasant and practical.
Install a New Bathtub and Sink
Two main features of a bathroom are the tub and sink, and you will use these daily. Replace your old tub with a modern, more comfortable and efficient one. If safety is a concern (if you or a loved one is a senior) you might consider something like a Premier walk in bathtub with a door that opens - you just step right in! Opt for a full-size or garden tub if you enjoy soaking for a while.
You can even buy tubs with a whirlpool design for the feel of a hot tub. The tub may be of ceramic tile or fiberglass, but fiberglass is generally less expensive and easier to care for.
Get a standing shower stall if you rarely take baths. This will save space if your bathroom is small. The bathtub should be made of quality materials and should be installed in such a way to reduce moisture. Get a high pressure shower head for quicker, easier showering.
If two people or several people must share the same bathroom, opt for a double sink with two faucets and added counter space. This will allow two people to brush their teeth (or fix hair) at the same time without driving one another up the wall!
Time to Upgrade Your Bathroom Toilet
Choose a new toilet with a higher seat for added comfort, and be sure the toilet is the appropriate size to fit in the area provided.
Measure your old toilet and the space around it before taking it out so you can buy the correct size for the new one and have it on hand when needed. You can buy a one-piece toilet, which is a complete unit including the tank, wax ring with sleeve, toilet seat, bowl, lid, bolts, and caps.
- A one-piece toilet unit is easier to clean and helps prevent leakage between the bowl and the tank.
- A two-piece unit is a toilet with the tank and bowl separate (doesn't usually include a seat and lid), and is usually less expensive than the one-piece design.
Also consider whether you want a round or elongated toilet bowl shape and the type of flush system you prefer. Though most toilets are white or off-white in color, there are other colors to choose from if you'd like the toilet to complement the main colors of your bath decor.
Add New Faucets and Lights for Sparkle
Bath remodeling isn't complete without new lighting and faucets to enhance the look and feel of the room. Bathroom lighting should be soft and relaxing, but sufficient enough so you can see clearly while getting ready. Morning tasks such as putting on make-up can be very difficult without appropriate lighting!
Choose overhead lighting that is bright and decorative with separate vanity lights for your mirror. Buy energy-saving bulbs if possible so your lighting will last longer and save you dollars on your energy bill.
Bathroom Color Schemes
Bathroom remodeling ideas for colors include pastel colors for paint and darker colors for the flooring. Choose linoleum that's of good quality and flooring wood that won't buckle because of moisture.
Also, linoleum flooring with dark patterns gives an elegant look and feel, and doesn't show dirt as white or light colored flooring. Paint the bathroom walls with pastel colors such as light green, pale yellow, light mauve, or cinnamon for a calming effect.
Pay Attention to Bath Accessories
Bath remodeling can also include upgrading your accessories. Add bathroom shelves with luxury bath towels, a decorative fabric shower curtain, floor mats, a bath scale, and a couple of lovely paintings to set off the room. Choose sink, tub, and shower faucets that are fancy and durable.
These bathroom remodeling ideas are meant to give you a starting point. Use your imagination to create a new, alluring bath decor of your dreams! You're now the king or queen of the castle!

Bathroom Remodeling Idea
These Bathroom Remodeling Ideas will Give You High Expectations for Your Small Spaces
Decorate or Remodel - The Choice is Yours
Just like you, I love the idea of remodeling and decorating small spaces in my home, but when it comes to choosing things, I either can’t afford what I like, or I can’t decide what I like in the first place. I guess I was not blessed with the home design gene, and I often have to get my bathroom remodeling ideas from other places, and then I have to make them my own.
Perhaps that is what most people do, I’m not really sure. I do know that I have a friend who can’t seem to match his pants and shirt, yet he comes up with the most beautiful bathrooms in the homes that he builds. I just don’t get it.
Perhaps the best place to find bathroom remodeling ideas is to have a look around. Look at other bathrooms in magazines, watch home improvement shows on television, and even look at bathrooms of friends and families that you love.
You probably don’t want to copy other people, but you can find things you like in many different places and pull them together into your own decor goals. It doesn’t even have to be about replacing major parts of the bathroom. It can be about paint, wallpaper, and color schemes as well.
You can also find some solutions by looking at displays in different stores. I am always amazed by what I see, but most of what I like I can not afford. I guess my tastes run much higher than what is in my checking account, but that’s okay.
Perhaps someday I can get what I love. Until then, I am partially content to dream about it. I can afford to change colors and paper, which I tend to do a lot. My husband often jokes that he never knows what the house will look like when he comes home on any given day.
If you are like me, then there is a good chance you can’t afford a remodel at the moment, but you still want to think about it, you can easily find ways to save your bathroom remodeling ideas for the future. If you find something that you like, tear it out of the magazine or even take a pictures of it. Save it in a scrapbook for later.
Another Small Spaces Story
You probably do not want to do a window replacement project in the middle of winter when there is a great deal of snow and cold. You also do not want to plan a demolition type remodeling job if you are hosting an event or just prior to a holiday.
We find that with most our projects that we need to plan for a greater length of time to complete, expect at least one thing to not go according to plan, and that the project is going to cost a great deal more than you anticipated.
We had to remind ourselves of this list as we started throwing around bathroom remodeling ideas. We know that when you start talking about remodeling the bathroom you are going to require a great deal of patience, and be willing to put up with the inconvenience of going down to one bathroom, at least for a portion of the project.
This is not the first time we have looked at bathroom remodeling ideas. We remodeled a bathroom in our other house and it was the worst two months we spent together. Our old hose was a rambler with a master bedroom that had a three quarter bath and a full bathroom in the hallway. It was just my husband and I in the house so we were used to having our own bathrooms.
We decided to update the hall bathroom. We wanted to put in a deeper tub and a new toilet as well as a new vanity. We had a general idea of what we wanted and we looked at the contractor’s bathroom remodeling ideas. We decided that is we flipped the layout of the bathroom we would gain some space.
When remodeling bathrooms, even though it is the smallest room in the house, there are so many people to coordinate. We had to have a plumber, electrician and a person that works with dry wall come out. We kept getting delayed because one of the skilled people would not be available.
We ended up sharing the small bathroom for two months. Once all the skilled labor was done we needed to paint the area. Painting a bathroom is difficult and time consuming because there are so many things to go around, especially behind the toilet. The end project was very pleasing to us. We are sure we will be pleased once our new project is done, it is just getting through the remodeling time.
When the time comes for you to use an idea for your small spaces, you can then look back to see what you liked, decide what to use, and then you will have all you need to have the bathroom you have always dreamed of having.
Bathroom Lighting Fixtures
Add Beauty To Your Bath With The Right Bathroom Lighting Fixtures
When it comes to making over your home, bathroom remodeling can be one of the hardest and most involved projects that you can take on. The project is going well and all your vanities are in place. But, you decor ideas are worthless without decent bath lighting fixtures to make them shine.
It can also be one of the most satisfying, especially if you are remodeling because everything is old and the room feels ancient to you. There are many aspects to this type of job, and there are some things that you simply must consider -- Lights!
When designing a home, one thing people may not put enough time into is planning their lighting scheme. That might sound like something that is reserved for concerts or theater productions, but you have more to think about than you may realize.
The Importance Of Bathroom Lighting Fixtures
You want the lights in your home to be inviting, easy on the eyes, as well as adequate and functional. One of the most important rooms to consider is the bathroom. There are many bathroom lighting fixtures from which to choose, and you have to decide what is right for you.
Seeing To "Put On Your Face"
Many women put their makeup on in their bathroom each morning. I have lived in a lot of places, and I have to say that not many of them had adequate bathroom lighting fixtures for this purpose.
Makeup can be tricky, and you need as much light as you can get. The only thing is, it has to be as close to natural light as possible. Large glaring florescent lights are never a good idea for bathroom lighting fixtures. These give off a harsh light, and if you apply makeup underneath one, you won’t be seeing what you will look like in the light of day.
What Are The Best Bathroom Lighting Fixtures To Buy?
When it comes to bathroom lighting fixtures, the best kind is something you may not have considered. The sun will give you the best and truest light you can find. The trick is to design your bathroom to get as much natural sunlight as possible without making it a peepshow for the neighbors. If you can’t do this, you have to get the next best thing. Look for bathroom lighting fixtures that will hold a large amount of bulbs for the best light. You may have seen this type of light fixtures for baths in public bathrooms, or on television.
Glamour Lights?
A row of small bulbs along the top of the mirror, and sometimes down the sides, offers the best light for applying makeup and shaving. These lights may not offer a lot of light individually, but when you add them all together, you have a great source of natural looking light that comes from all directions.
This is great for seeing everything. If you have a single light hanging over your head, you may end up with makeup lines you didn’t notice, make up that is too dark, or a multitude of shaving nicks.
Where To Buy Bathroom Lighting Fixtures
Home improvement stores are by far your best source for bathroom lighting fixtures. They have lights for every room of the house, and a section specifically geared towards bathroom lighting.
Ask a salesperson for help, and make sure you shop around first. You may find fixtures you hadn’t thought of, and ideas you may not have though of on your own.
Bathroom Floor Tile
Turn Your Imperfect Room To Perfect By Adding Bathroom Floor Tile
Bathroom Floor Tile Replacement
Does your biggest nightmare involve having to replace anything in your bathroom? Many of us have that fear, but I'm finally going to tackle mine. One of my New Year's Resolutions this year is to attempt all of my home improvement projects that I've been putting off for too long.
Replacing My Bathroom Floor Tile Is #1
Of course, the dreaded bathroom floor tile replacement just happens to be at the top of my list since the tile floor I currently have is at least two decades old -- and looks every bit its age.
I won't go into all the gory details about the dirt and mold caked on the grout, but take my word that this isn't something that a little scrubbing would take care of. That's why I've got to replace all of the bathroom floor tile and be done with it.
Anyway, I've been shopping around for bathroom floor tile for the past week or so, and really like what I see.
So Many Choices of Floor Tile
There are many types of products available today, which means I won't be limited to the cheap white stuff that I got stuck with when I moved into the house.
Instead, I can now choose from a whole range of glass, mosaic, porcelain, vinyl and ceramic bathroom floor tile in just about every color and design imaginable.
I can even buy specially colored bathroom floor tile patterns that can be used to create a theme, like ocean waves or sunrays. What a fun way to spice up the flooring!
Laying A Tile Floor In Bathroom
Once I decide what kind of bathroom floor tile I want to purchase, I can then go about tearing up the old stuff and preparing the space for installation of the upgrade.
The steps I need to take from there will be determined in large part by the type of tiles I end up using, as there are slight variations in the installation process depending on the material.
Comfort of Stepping Out Onto Heated Bathroom Floor Tile
I had a time making up my mind about putting heating coils under the bathroom floor tile. But, then the thoughts of stepping out on a nice, warm floor in the dead of winter helped me to decide quickly.
While that will add a bit of time and expense to the overall project, I'm sure I'll appreciate the extra effort when it's below zero outside!
Shop For Discount Floor Tile
Speaking of costs, I fully plan on purchasing all my new bathroom floor tile online. I know a number of web-based home improvement discount centers that sell everything I need to complete this do-it-yourself project (including tools and instruction manuals) at prices well below what I'd pay at local hardware stores.
And we're talking about quality bathroom floor tile from top manufacturers here, not the cut-rate stuff that nobody would want to use, so you can bet I won't be settling for less than the best.
You Did It All By Yourself
If you can remember to keep a positive attitude while replacing your bathroom floor tile, you may find that this dreaded task doesn't take as long as you thought.
Eventhough laying a tile floor is not the most exciting diy project you can tackle around the house, once you're finished, you can enjoy it for many years to come.
Bathroom Decor Ideas
Ready For Some Themed Bathroom Decor Ideas ?
Decorating A Bathroom With A Theme
You can decorate your bathroom any way you wish. Some like to go with a color and build around it. However, some like the idea of some fun themes for their bathroom décor ideas.
There are many ways you can go, and some stores have made this much easier to put together. Though some adults love to have themes, they are even more popular with children.
Not all children have their own bath, but those that do want it to be fun. Think about the child that hates to take a bath. They are more likely to do so if their bathroom is fun to be in for them.
Some Common Bathroom Decor Ideas
There are some very basic themed bathroom decor ideas that many people use. They are common because they are well liked and fun. One would be the rubber ducky theme. This is when things in the bathroom are all ducks.
You can find accessories, shower curtains, rugs, toothbrush holders, soap dishes, and dispensers in the shape of rubber ducks. When you do this, you do have to have something to offset the bright yellow. Using something like a light or sky blue for the walls can do that rather well.
Like The Water? A Great Bathroom Decor Idea Has This Theme
Aquatic themes for bathroom décor ideas are also popular. You can find themed bathrooms that revolve around dolphins, aquariums, and even the ocean or sea. Because bathrooms are where we use a lot of water, these bathroom décor ideas make a lot of sense.
These decorations often come with colors of blue and some come with other pastels that go along with the hues of blue chosen. The best way to choose colors is to go to the color wheel after you have chosen all of your accessories for your ideas for bathroom decor.
Decorating Ideas For Your Bathroom Can Be Simple
What you may love about themed bathroom decor ideas is that some companies have put everything together for you. You can find sets that include all of your accessories, your shower curtain, rugs, trash cans, and even wallpaper border.
These sets can also include towels and washcloths. You can save money when buying sets, and you can also save a lot of time when you find something that you like. You can also find these sets in bathroom decorating ideas that revolve around colors rather than theme.
Decorating your bathrooms can be easy when doing your entire home, freeing up more time for those areas that might require more thought and more work. Now, on to your luxury bath!

Tips for Decorating a Bath
Just recently, my husband and I decided it was time to tackle one of our small remodeling projects, which of course was the bathroom, and we got some of our best remodeling tips from our friends and family.
Tile for the Floor
Since our bathroom had plenty of windows and natural lighting and much thought was put into it, my husband and I chose a black and white tile flooring to offset the surroundings.
We were astounded at the way the colors and design accented our Moen faucets and other bath accessories. We were so happy with the outcome and amazed at the difference just the flooring made.
Remember the Rugs
We were really excited about our newly decorated bath, especially with the mirrors and other accessories put in place. But, something seemed to be missing. Guess what? Bathroom Rugs!!!
After placing a few around on the floor, more colour and excitement was added to our newly remodeled bathroom theme. Not to mention the added comfort and warmth we get when we step out of the shower on our tile flooring.
The Bathroom Shower Plan
Our friends told us how important it is not to overlook your shower when planning your bathroom decorating ideas. We found that one of the easiest and most economical ways to give our bathroom a quick makeover was shower curtains. This was a great way to change both the look and feel of our bath.
Whether it's fabric or vinyl, you'll be amazed at how much choosing the right designer bathroom curtain brings more color to your theme.
Even if your shower requires an extra long curtain, finding one will not be a problem. You can shop at your local home decor shop or go online for a even greater selection.
If your shower is scratched or worn badly and you just can't afford a new one at this time, talk to a salesperson at your local home improvement store about installing a bathtub liner. This opens the door to a whole new set of design ideas for the DIY person like yourself!
See, it just takes a few simple ideas to create a whole new look for the most used room in your home. So, go now and get your bathroom decorating ideas going.

Bath Remodeling Color Schemes
Amazingly Effective Bath Remodeling Color Schemes
Remodel Your Bathroom - Getting Started
Before you begin to remodel your bathroom, there are a few things to consider such as colour, among others. With bath remodeling, color schemes are extremely important. Your bathroom colors will set the mood for the room as well as determine what type of decor items are added later on.
No matter what the size of your bathroom, the colors you choose will either enhance or take away from the decor theme you're trying to accomplish. Let's look at some ideas for appropriate bath decorating colors.
Should You Decorate with Solids or Prints?
Choose between solid bathroom colors or prints, or blend the two if that's your style. It's really a matter of preference. If you already have your bathroom fixtures and decor items picked out then go with wall patterns or colors to match.
You don't want floral walls if most of your accessories are decorated with dolphins! On the other hand, if you plan to use unique wall prints, you'll want to choose matching accessories mostly in solid colors to offset the patterns.
Some wall paper prints that work well with bathrooms include flowers, stripes, rectangular shapes or circles, animals such as butterflies or birds, angels, or jungle prints. Remember, whatever you choose will determine the style of bath rugs, fabric shower curtains, wall paintings, bathroom shelves, and other items to be added later.
Choosing Smart Color Schemes for Your Bathroom
If your bath remodeling goal is to create a more soothing bathroom, choose colors that are meant to soothe and relax the spirit. Pastel colors and cream colors tend to have a calming effect while bright colors are more upbeat and energetic.
Consider how the colors will make you feel as you settle in to a long, soaking bath with a candle or incense burning. If you want a more luxurious style, consider off-white with burgundy or royal green accessories. For a modernistic look, consider black and white colors with modern utilities and fixtures.
Add the Optical Illusion of Space
Avoid bright colors for the walls that can reflect the light in your vanity mirror in a strange way. For example, if you apply make-up in a bathroom with red walls, you may accidentally apply too much blush because the lighting and paint can fool your eyes.
Light colors tend to make a room look more spacious whereas darker colors tend to make it look smaller.
If you enjoy redecorating your bathroom often, choose main color schemes that are neutral so they'll go with most any accessories. This will allow you to change your bath decor whenever you desire without painting the room or replacing wall paper again and again.
Adding Bathroom Wall Accents
Once you've selected bath remodeling colors, it's time to add accents to the walls, bathroom shelves, and vanity to complete the room. Decorate with small plants, scented candles, fancy wall sconces, and paintings.
Use a few small figurines (but not too many) to draw attention to a wall shelf or cabinet, and include a magazine basket for an added touch. Also, decorate open bathroom shelves with matching luxury bath towels and wash cloths in colors to blend with the room's decor.
Where to Find Bath Remodeling Color Schemes
Everything from where the sun hits to how big the space is and looks (two different phenomena) to placement variables are factored into color schemes and color decisions. There are, because of the auspices of internet communication and facilities, some awesome tools for pre-planning color schemes.
You can set color #1, then the generator will figure in the appropriate range, hue, etc. of the complimentary and accent colors. The true color wheel is also available at a number of sites, as is information on the psychology of color and the impacts/effects of certain color combinations.
You can find many color choices and bathroom decoration ideas online or by glancing through home decorating magazines. Bath remodeling is simple once you choose the colors, so check out all the varieties of colors and patterns before making a selection. Now, enjoy your new luxury bathroom!

Bathroom Fixtures
The bath is often the smallest room of your home, but it involves so many items. When you begin the bath remodel project, decide which fixtures you will be putting back into the space and which you will need to replace.
The main fixtures involved in bath remodeling include the tub, shower, toilet, sink, bathtub, cabinets, lighting and flooring. Once you list the fixtures you realize why bath remodeling often times goes over budget and takes longer than anticipated.

Are Pedestal Sinks Practical in Bathroom Decor?
When beginning the bath remodeling project keep storage space in mind. Many people like the look of pedestal sinks, however they do not provide any storage area. The need for storage for towels, toiletries and cleaning supplies is essential for a well functioning bathroom.
Jacuzzi Anyone?
Another trend in bath remodeling is installing whirlpool tubs. These can be very costly to install, take up a great deal of space and are expensive to repair, talk to relatives, friends and neighbors that have installed whirlpools to see what their experiences with the tubs are, and if they would recommend installing one.
Bathroom Lighting Fixtures
Another item in bath remodeling that is often over looked is lighting. In deciding what type of lighting you will be using consider if you have a source of natural light in the bathroom.
If you do choose lighting that will compliment the natural light as much as possible and still provide privacy you will save on electricity costs and help the envoronment. Go for green! If you do not have a natural light source try to create one through the lighting you choose.
Bathroom Mirrors
There may be many mirrors in your bathroom, and they may be the most important ones in your home. You may have some in your bedroom or dressing room that help you decide how you look in an outfit, or you may have some in other rooms that are purely for decorative touches.
However, your bathroom mirrors are ones that you rely on for your appearance each day, and you want them to be good ones. You also want them to be well lit. When these break, which can happen quite easily, you also want to know how to get them replaced.
Your bathroom mirrors are not going to do you much good if they are not well lit. If there is any way that you can have them lit with light from the sun, you are going to have the most natural light you can get.
This means the clearest picture of what you are going to look like when you leave the house to go to work, go shopping, or to take your kids to school. We can look great when applying make up and doing hair inside, but it may not look as good outside.
Without natural light, you should find the most natural looking bulbs you can get, and make sure they are plentiful and situated the right way around your bathroom mirrors.
Flooring for the Bathroom
Finally in bath remodeling the flooring needs to be considered. If your budget allows for it natural stone or ceramic tile are two of the easiest surfaces to keep clean. They do cost more than other materials, but will last for the life of your bathroom.
Easy cleaning should be in constant consideration when completing the bath remodeling project. Being able to quickly clean up surfaces is a great time saver and will make you happy that you completed your bath remodeling project.
5 Ways Bathroom Shelves
"Bathroom Shelves Gave Me More Space than I Expected"
Add Storage with Bathroom Shelves
No matter if your bathroom is tiny or very spacious, storage room can run out quickly. In bath remodeling, many people focus on the big stuff - toilet, bath tub, and sink. But storage space is also extremely important to have a functional and well-organized bathroom.
Fortunately, there are a few creative ways to design bathroom shelves that give more space and add beauty to your bath decor. Here are just five bath decor ideas to give you extra room and beauty.
1. Buy a Vanity that can be Altered in Design
If you plan to buy a cabinet style vanity with storage space underneath, be sure there's room to grow, meaning you can add an extra shelving if needed. Standard bathroom vanities usually have one or several cabinet doors, perhaps a couple of drawers, and plain empty space in the bottom of each cabinet.
To add more storage, one idea is to install rolling pullout bathroom shelves with one about mid way from the floor and possibly another above that one if there’s enough room.
With rolling pullout shelves, you'll have two or three pullout shelves to increase your space instead of one flat space to store bathroom accessories and/or towels.
This enables you to organize items without clutter and to pull out the shelf as needed to grab the items. It's a whole lot easier than reaching and bending to grab bath products from the back of the cabinet area. This type of shelving also works well to hide away a bath scale in an easy-to-reach space.
2. Recessed Bathroom Cabinet
To save floor space, install a decorative recessed cabinet in one of the walls. This cabinet can have multiple bathroom shelves to organize bath towels, wash cloths, and personal items such as a shaver, toilet paper, etc. Being recessed into the wall gives you extra storage without taking away from the floor area.
3. Corner Bathroom Shelves
A corner shelf is one that fits perfectly in a corner and expands the length between the two walls that meet. Corner shelves work great for a small bathroom where only a corner is left for extra space.
The shelves are great for storing wash cloths or small bathroom accessories such as soaps, lotions, tissue, skin care products, etc.
4. Wall Shelves and Wall Cabinets
Wall shelves are anchored to a flat wall surface horizontally and are usually sized for small items, though they can be bigger. You can add a couple of wall shelves near the vanity mirror or near your tub to easily grab bath items when needed.
Be sure the shelves are sturdy and well-secured for safety. If you have enough wall space, you might consider installing an entire wall cabinet above the toilet or anywhere that won't be a nuisance. Wall cabinets usually contain several shelves concealed behind doors and are securely anchored to the wall.
5. Free Standing Bath Shelving
If you have the extra floor space, consider adding a freestanding shelf or bath rack. These are convenient because they can easily be moved or changed out when needed. They provide convenient bathroom shelves that are open and easy to reach when you need to grab a towel or any bath product.
With these five bathroom shelf ideas, you can quickly add storage to your bathroom without taking away from its overall look and feel! Now, where did I put those bath towels?

Fabric Shower Curtains Mean Quality
Don't Settle for Price - Shower Curtain Beauty
Decorating your bath? Here is why you should consider fabric shower curtains, even if they cost a bit more that the cheaper brands and styles.
Fabric shower curtains come in such a huge array of styles, patterns, and colors that it was really easy to get confused about which choice was the best for my bathroom.
I knew that this accessory may well become the focal point of the entire bath and set the mood for the room, so I definitely wanted the perfect piece. I first asked myself what kind of atmosphere I wanted to enjoy, and took it from there.
Styles are plentiful online
The more I shopped for fabric shower curtains online, the more decorating ideas I picked up. For example, a nautical style is an obvious choice for a bathroom, and I thought about filling my room with symbols of the sea like lighthouses, ships, or beaches.
Then I came across a website that sold spa accessories for the bathroom, another that specialized in a totally contemporary look, and yet others that incorporated nearly every kind of theme I could imagine.
Even with all the choices, it was hard to find the right fabric shower curtains for my bath, but there was another option. Many online retailers offer customization services where they'll put together a product based on my very own designs. So, if you are starting a bathroom redecorating project, add these to your accessory list. You'll be happier in the long run!
